Are you Ready to Win some Cash? The ProBlogger Giveaway continues!

problogger-birthday-bash.jpgMuch like the opportunity to win the iPods the other day, this giveaway requires you to do only one very simple thing, and you can do it right here in the comments section of this post. But first…

The Prizes:

All are listed in US Dollars unless otherwise mentioned.

How To Enter:

In the comments section of this post (and you’re welcome to post your entry on your blog if you wish, but it’s not required as long as you’ve posted it here) finish this statement: “If I had a million dollars…”

Sure, we don’t have a million, but we’ve got quite a bit here to give away! $3,364.33 just in cash and Amazon Gift Certificates (and another couple bucks in non-American money with a bonus NFL Pro Bowl Ballot that we have no idea the monetary value of) to be exact!

So there you have it. Be funny, silly, serious, it doesn’t matter! Just finish that statement in the comments section of this post and you’re entered to win one of the above prizes.

Rules: One entry per person. If you have already won something from one of our other giveaways, you are not eligible to win. Winning one of the prizes listed above will prevent you from being able to win any other prizes for the duration of the giveaway.

Winners are chosen at random using a random number generator. You may not “pick” the prize you want, we will award them in the order that we receive the random winners.

This contest begins at 9am on Friday, October 5, EST (New York, USA) and ends on Saturday, October 6 at 9am EST (Again, New York, USA). We will close comments at that time.

PS: We are about to turn the ProBlogger Birthday Bash into OVERDRIVE! Up til this point we’ve been giving prizes away every 24 hours – but in a few hours we’re going to accelerate the pace a little and the giveaways will start coming every 8 hours (with a few more 24 hour ones thrown in) until the end of the weekend!

Make sure you’re subscribed to our feed now or you’ll miss out!

Update

This one’s closed, and winners have all been notified by email.Check out our newest 24 hour giveaway, or see what’s going on in the 8 hour collections!

  1. If I had a million dollars… I would buy a hat to fit my size 8 head.

  2. If I had a million dollars the first thing I would do is buy my husband his own vehicle. We have been down to one car for over a year now and I am sick of taking him back and forth to work every day.

The second thing I would do is move out of this tiny house and into a larger one so that my 9 year old can finally have her own room. She’s been sharing with her 6 year old twin sisters since the day they came home from the hospital.

Third I would pay off all of our debt. Actually, this should have been first I guess, oh well.

Other things would be to help out family members in need, save for my kids college education and DONATE.

Oh, and I would also want to indulge in a brand new computer just for me with all the bells and whistles.

  3. If I had a million dollars, I would pay off my student loans, put aside what I need for the rest of my undergrad degree and a possible MBA, buy a few little fun things, and invest the rest so that I can live off the interest and just go to school and blog!

  4. If I had a million dollars…I would actually hire people to help me expand my business… and I would pay someone to drive me instead of taking driving lessons.

  6. I’m with everyone else who immediately thinks of K cars and Kraft dinners when I here ‘If I had a million dollars..’ Curse you; Bare Naked Ladies!

If I had a million dollars…I’d start a company that would get businesses to sponsor individual special needs and under priviledged kids. In large corporations each department could sponsor their own kid. And the departements could have competitions to see who is helping their sponsored kid the most. It would be so cool.

  7. If I had a million dollars… I’d replace all the carpet in my house. Or I’d just replace the house.

  8. If I had a million dollars… I would have a much better monitor than the one I’m staring at right now. And my own personal chef would be awesome. Food is good. Finally I would probably save some of it too.

  9. If I had a million dollars…I would invest it in my retirement, quit my 8 to 5 and work on my online projects. Oh and buy a sports car.

  10. If I had a million dollars…I’d invest, send my husband to school to finish his degree and I’d just stay home and have babies.

I however would not buy a real green dress, ’cause that’s cruel.

  11. If I had a million dollars… I would put them in a bank for a monthly interest and carry on living my life from it.

or i would have just bought a shit load of ice cream :)

  12. If I had a million dollars… I wouldn’t be commenting on Problogger to win $500… or would I?

  13. If I had a million dollars I would make a down payment on problogger.net

  14. If I had a million dollars… I would buy my parents a nice appartment and with the rest, I would go on a sailing trip in the pacific with some girls (as from the current state, I am single and therefore can do whatever I want… ;-) ..)

  15. good luck everyone

  16. If I had a million dollars… I would exchange it all for Euros.

  17. If I had a million dollars…

-I would spend $200,000 getting an amazing software product that I know of off the ground.
-I would invest $150,000 among several authors that I know could be successful if they had the resources.
-I would spend $20,000 getting my books going.
-I would use $250,000 to set up a scholarship fund for children, though not sure of the specific focus.

With the rest I would officially open my own consulting firm, travel as much as I could, and invest the rest (half in real estate and the rest in guaranteed return accounts).

Darren – fantastic question. It’s interesting that there’s always this fantasy of becoming rich, but to sit down and really think about what would be done with the money was an interesting change. I’ve been a lurker here for quite some time, but I couldn’t resist posting :)

  18. If I had a million dollars, I would apply it toward my law school loan. Might actually make a dent in it.

  19. Is it wrong to say I think about this quite regularly?

If I had a milion dollars I’d give my parents half (they deserve the whole thing but I’m no saint!). Then I’d give my two brothers $25K each, and my sister $50K. With my share, I’d buy a house and a car.

I’d be happy to keep working, especially knowing that I wouldn’t be working to pay off a mortgage or a car!

  20. If I had a million dollars….I will build a blogging university, teach students on how to blog, make money, maintain good blogs, and will be the world first Blogging University. I think will make it online, then open franchising in every part of the world. I will hire you as my blogging professor, and I wanna make a slogan as: “Everyone Can Blog”. :)

  21. If I had a million dollars…

I would invest in rental property.

  22. If I had a million dollars I would find someone like Dr.House (but real) and find what is wrong with my disabled partner, then hopefully get her better and if not make her life as pleasant as possible with holidays etc.

  23. If I had a million dollars… I wouldn’t be wasting my time here trying to win a few more!

  24. If I had a million dollars, I would go for the world tour. Explore the moon if possible.

  25. If I had a million dollars… I would start my own company.

  26. If I had a million dollars my husband and I would make a short film… or maybe even a feature.

  27. If I had a million dollars I’d be blogging from a beach on some island in the Caribbean while beautiful island women brought me cigars and drinks. Just don’t tell my wife.

  28. If I had a million dollars, I would pay off everything I own, sell my house, and buy one of those silly RV’s that is fully loaded. We already homeschool our children, so we would load up the RV and travel to every corner in the US. I would visit all notable land marks, and even some that no one knows about except locals.

I would then start a blog about my travels and document and take pictures of everywhere we have been. It would be a dream life style, and even one that we are currently working towards now. But, a million dollars would definitely expedite that dream.

  29. I realize I can’t win, but if I had a million dollars, I would buy a whole city block in a really bad section of Baltimore and revive it. It would be a fun little experiment.

  30. If I had a million dollars, I’d live on it, and probably buy a few things I otherwise wouldn’t be able to.

  31. If I had a million dollars….I would pay off my aging parent’s mortgage and credit card debit. Then I would send them on a trip.

  32. If I had a million dollars, I would think to have a billion dollars.

  33. If I had a million dollars I would change the song by the Barenaked Ladies to say –

Now I have a million dollars – yes I have a million dollars
And I bought me a nicer house – yes I bought me a house
And now that I have a million dollars – yes I have a million dollars
I bought me furniture for my house – totally got a Pottery Barn-filled house
And now that I have a million dollars – yes I have a million dollars
Well, I finally got me a monkey – yes I always wanted a monkey (not really but it sounds cool)…

I would go on but you probably get the picture… :)

  34. If I had a million dollars… I would buy an island and move all my mates their and just live there!

  35. If I had a million dollars… I WOULD eat kraft dinner.

  36. If I had a million dollars… i would buy this blog and john chow’s too!!!! :)

  37. If I had a million dollars, I’d buy your love.

Not literally, some music lovers will get it.

  38. This is an easy answer for me as my family and I have been clawing our way out of debt for the past 18 months and we have an agreed upon formula for all financial windfalls:

40% would go to taxes (from what I understand for large amounts, never had the pleasure of finding out for myself!)
10% off the top goes to charitable contributions (tithes, non-profits, whatever)
    10% goes to savings
    10% goes to family fun
30% (the rest) goes to bills

    So, here’s my million dollars:
    1,000,000
    – 400,000 taxes
    =600,000
    – 100,000 charity
    =500,000
    -100,000 savings
    =400,000
    -100,000 family fun
    =300,000
-300,000 bills (which would pay off everything including my house)
    = 0 worries

  39. If I had a million dollars, I would do more blogging and less housework.

  40. If I had a million dollars I’d get myself a nice little office in the city and make a go at a real business.

  41. If I had a million dollars… I would be blogging all day and all night long… but only when i want :-)

  42. “If I had a million dollars…”
I’d by my dream home then invest the rest for my kids’ college tuition and retirement.

  43. Justin says: 10/06/2007 at 12:18 am

If i had a million dollars I would get both of my parents out of debt and pay off their house. Then I would take that money and invest it in myself and fund my startup’s / projects myself and really be able to focus on the product rather than the money.

  44. If I had a million dollars…

I’d do exactly what I’m doing right now (travelling the world permanently) but could do it for the next 10+ years without actually having to run my business at the same time…although I still might ‘work’ because I enjoy it.

In which case I’d fly business class instead of cattle class and then donate the rest to pay for the full education of 100+ girls in China & SE Asia.

  45. If I had a million dollars I would… not play in blog contests:)

  46. If I had a million dollars… I would quit my job and spend a month in Disney World.

  47. If I had a million dollars… I would spent my time hiking through hiking trails in Lapland and other parts of the world, taking photographs, posting them online, blog about it and then head out for next hiking trail.
Actually I would talk with my banker to verify that million would be enough for this dream to come true, but …
Another potential obstacle is that we have limited number of years that we can spend on hiking trails. I would have to figure out, what I would like to do when hiking is no longer fun or my body simply wouldn’t be able to cope up with it.

  48. If i had a million dollars, well I wouldn’t change much. Probably keep a day job, maybe buy a car or house, bank and invest the rest….

oh and pick up Darren’s travel tab for when he’s making visits to the US, and help build a school or 3 (http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/10/04/karmic-capitalist-should-i-wait-until-im-rich-to-give/)

Why should a million dollars keep me from being a realist?

  49. If I had a million dollars I’d buy a house, go on vacation, and invest the rest :)

  50. …would tithe 10% of it off the top to my church and then pay off all my school debt and mortgage, take care of my son’s college tuition when he gets older. I would take care of my sister’s tuition, and invest in my retirement.
