Today’s task in the 31 Day Project is to ‘stickify your blog’.
This week’s video post is based upon a tip I mentioned in a recent podcast interview with Yaro and revolves around a technique that I’ve recently used to help convert one off and first time visitors to my blog into RSS subscribers.
It revolves around identifying key points where traffic is entering your blog and then optimizing those points for stickiness either by providing means for subscribing via RSS or email or by driving people deeper into your blog.

Excellent tip for enhancing popular pages and making them work for you to gain readership. Majority of readers still struggle with adding feeds to their readers. Breaking it down for them and explaining it is great advice.

Great advise. I wasn’t getting much subscriptions until I actual started telling people at the end of my post that it’s o.k. for them to subscribe to my blog (I won’t bite).

The tip about enticing the visitor into going to another page deep in your blog lit up the old light bulb for me. To generalize on this idea, it seems that every page in your blog should entice the viewer to visit yet another page. All traffic must exit a page sooner or later, so it might as well exit onto another page in your blog. Well placed text links sprinkled through your text would suffice for this.
The porn industry channels traffic in this way to partner web sites. In the case of a blog the channeling occurs between pages within the blog itself.
