Last week at Blog World Expo I had the opportunity to speak with hundreds of bloggers of all topics, backgrounds and levels of experience. One of the things that quickly became evident as I spoke with these bloggers was that collectively the bloggers who had gathered together in Vegas for those few days had a vast amount of knowledge.
I decided to do my best to capture some of this on video and used my new Flip Mino Series Camcorder to interview 15 or so of them. Here are the first 3 interviews – Chris Brogan, Patsi Krakoff and Denise Wakeman and David Peralty.
Thanks to Business Week Exchange for sponsoring this video.

Nice video and interviews. It’s amazing how many smart and talented people there are out there blogging.
Matt
Thanks for sharing this video with us Darren. I always enjoy hearing the insight of other successful bloggers.
“Make sure you have a way for your readers to subscribe to your blog.” I’ll have to remember that one. :-)
Wow. The Flip Mio takes great video!
Hi Darren
thanks for the video
it was short and to the point, out of all 3 i liked Patsi Krakoff and Denise Wakeman’s tip about having quality traffic rather then quantity traffic. i too prefer 250/300 visitor who read my post word to word rather then 5000 visitor who only scan it and leave to never come back.
I am so glad that you are bringing back info from the expo for those of us who did not have a chance to go. maybe next year! how many people attend? I’ll have to view the video after work. I’ll be back to post my comments then.
Great informative video…..I want more of such stuffs :)
My, Darren, you were busy in Las Vegas! It’s a wonder you got to any sessions at all!
Thanks for these three short interviews. It’s good to see faces connected to the blogs you read. I look forward to more!
thanks for the some tidbits from BWE. I’m not there, at least I have some taste of the hype now.
interesting video though, but it could be nicer if more blogger on the video.. only three.. or there another part?
I just watched this video on your Facebook profile, Looks like your wall is turning into an interesting blog all by itself. Great to connect on Facebook and thanks for these interviews. Hope you don’t get lost down the rabbit warren
I just got myself a flip mino too, they are cool little cameras, one of my Facebook friends Lou Bortone has a great little free PDF about Flip cameras and how to get the most out of them and some nice tips on how to create online video.
That statement about the vast amounts of knowledge couldn’t be any truer. It’s sad that I wasn’t able to attend the expo, but I did listen to it on the radio frequently! Thanks for getting some interviews on video! Looking forward to seeing the rest of them.
I like the last advice most, although I still don’t employ it. Hopefully I will in the near future.
The thing I picked up most is to remember … mention your blog whenever possible…not just at a blog world expo…
but everywhere…social…parties…family…friends….clubs…
The video was helpful but much too short, I need more, more, more.
I did glean that I need to mention my blog more, cultivate more quality visitors that will actively participate, comment and spend quality time on my blog.
Darren – great video. I also recently purchased a new Flip Mino video cam and have just started playing with it. If you don’t mind me asking – what video editor did you use to edit your video with? Was it the one that came with the Flip or another editor? Would like to get something I could edit my videos like that also. Thanks!
AHHHH! Man I wish I could get a spot on one of your videos. I never shut up about blogging. My work pals and my friends are so freaking bored of me going on bout it all the time.
Maybe video blogging is the way forward for me! Any tips Darren.
That’s some clean video and good tips. Thanks for sharing Darren!
Ms Missive – yeah for it’s price and features it does take reasonable video if you’ve got enough light.
Sunil – yes focused and on topic readership is a powerful thing to have.
BloggerNewbie – I think there were about 2000 attendees. I hope also to post a version of one of my sessions in coming weeks also.
Mike – one of my main regrets with this year’s BWE was that I felt torn all day every day between meeting people and seeing sessions. In the end I saw very few actual sessions (except the 4 I did) as I couldn’t help myself but spending time with people.
izzat – there are more bloggers to come in future videos
Ian – yes I’ve been getting back into Facebook a bit lately – some good connections there that I’d been ignoring (due to busyness) for too long.
Debo – more to come :-)
Chipper – I edited this on iMovie (mac)
The Blog Academy – if we’re ever in the same room, lets do one :-)
Problogger, I guess you already know how much you and your site generally rock?
Good! (You should.)

Nice work and great use of the Flip Mino!
My wife and I recently purchased the Mino as well and it is an amazing piece of equipment!
I even used it to do a video review of an awesome baby stroller that we also recently picked up for my daughters.
It’s tough being in front of the camera the first few times, but I hope that (like blogging) I will get better and better each time I do a new video!
Thanks for giving us some insight into the blog convention!
I love the tip by David on advertising
“Ask everyone, the worst thing is just they say no!”
That’s so true, I fall in the victim state of considering so much and putting off things which have to be done…
It’s really not as bad as I thought it would be
” Just Chiong! ( It’s a Chinese dialect word, it means CHARGE in english, pronounced as ‘CHONG” if you would like to use it)

It’s interesting. Thank.
I love Chris’ response. Get’s right to the point; I would have been surprised if he said anything else. Good questions are his M.O.

Very nice. Great tips. Thanks for sharing this video with us Darren.
I wish I could see the video, every time it starts I get a few seconds then it stops. I have hi speed internet, and can watch on youtube fine, so I’m not sure why… Hopefully I can come back later and try again.
Great tips and help for blogging.
