Google today announced that it has launched YouTube Insight – a tool for giving insight into who is watching your videos.

So today I logged into YouTube to see what information I could glean about the viewers of my videos. from the new stats. Here’s what I learned about who is watching my videos:

Across my Channel they are predominately male (64%) and in the 45-55 year old bracket (36%):

Youtube-Demographics

Of Male viewers – the biggest group is actually aged 35-45.

  1. Interesting. Not the most useful of statistics, but interesting, and more detailed information would be more difficult to acquire.

  2. You appeal to older men. Now what?

  3. YouTube Insight? Better youtube analytics… What do you think? i think the tracker function is similar to google analytics.

  4. hmm interesting…Wonder if it also gives you information about what other videos these people are watching on you tube…Like amazon does…

  5. omg, I think I’ll be uploading to my poorly updated youtube account more now.

  6. Interesting. That age group is older than I thought.

  7. i am 40 but feel like 25, where do i fit in

  8. Nice, although I prefer your written posts over the videos, videos just take so much longer lol

  9. I wonder who they target this service at? I guess this stats feature will only be used by bloggers – we are well known to be constantly obsessed with our stats.

But when it comes to you, I could never even suspect that the type of content you offer could actually be of the most interest to the older audience.

  10. Actually, the appeal to older people is not such a big surprise. The “earn-money-from-home-blogging” segment is quite a large one, and it’s only gaining adepts daily. We’re talking about people with a lot of experience gathered during a lifetime. Some of these people have a lot of things to teach, so it’s no surprise that they would want to become better bloggers in order to be better earners.

  11. Amazing how you attract more older audience with your blog =D Now the question is how accurate is the stats. It doesn’t even include those who view your videos anonymously.

  12. That is great, now you can track who is really watching you videos.

I’m glad to be a more or less “original reader” – 15 years old and from Europe!

  14. I have see that function before 3 days. I have to say that i like it very much! By this way you will know more about visitors that watching your videos!

  15. This is just analytics they already use, but will help your youtube page

  16. As i would like my blog to reach people all over the world and video is a tool that i want to use much more, i think it’s really cool, especially the country function. btw i fit right in the middle of your demographic which is also the demographic i am hopefully appealing to – it might help me to keep “on message”.
thanks for the post – your feed is at the top of my google page and the place i first visit in the morning when i turn on – it’s where all the clever stuff lives!

  17. that’s really great. now it will really help bloggers who uses videos to promote their product get better idea about the visitors.
    Thanks Google and Youtubes

  18. I love this tool, it let’s me know what is going on with my video and who is really watching it. I would like to have more info on what key words are used and how much though.
