Win two 20″ LG USB monitors from DisplayLink in the Birthday Bash Giveaway!

problogger-birthday-bash.jpgThis one’s going to be open until 8am (EST) Friday, so you have PLENTY of time to enter, and it’s easy!

Prize Description:

Be one of the FIRST consumers to own not one, but TWO 20-inch FlatronWide L206WU USB-based monitors provided by DisplayLink!

displaylink-logo.jpgThese LG monitors are one of the first USB monitors out in the market powered by DisplayLink technology. DisplayLink believes professional bloggers and web users would really appreciate the ease and convenience of lots of screen real estate so you can spread yourself out and accomplish more and enjoy more. Because these LG monitors use USB, you simply plug the monitors into your laptop or desktop, and start blogging away!

DisplayLink Technology: FlatronWide L206WU USB-based monitors

How To Enter:

This one’s super simple… Spread the word about our little birthday celebration and just write up a post about the ProBlogger Birthday Bash and link to it. Then, come back to THIS post, and leave a comment below with the link to your blog post about the Birthday Bash, and after that link, the word “DisplayLink” (yes, it’s case sensitive, and once again is to help us choose qualifying entries as well as to help us get the valid comments out of Akismet easier).

Example comment:

http://www.yoursite.com/archives/the-post-you-wrote/
DisplayLink

And for those of you who have already linked to the competition, simply place the link where you did it in comments below THIS post like outlined above and you still qualify!

Hopefully this competition will generate a little buzz and add a little value to our sponsors by bringing attention to the competition. Don’t worry – it’s the only giveaway that we’ll ask for a link back to ProBlogger – the rest will be different.

We will once again close off comments and choose one winner at random on Friday at 8am (EST). Winner will be notified by email, and will receive their monitors in 4-6 weeks.

Please note: If you enter for this prize and are chosen as the winner, you will not be eligible to enter for any future giveaways throughout the end of the Birthday Bash (with the exception of the final giveaway on Monday that everyone will be eligible for), so please make sure that you’re either willing to risk missing out on something else or that this was “the big one” you’ve been waiting for (keep in mind that over 700 people entered the first giveaway – so you’re not guaranteed of winning anything – it might be best to enter everything you have some interest in winning). You can always enter on the other posts between now and Friday morning, however if you are chosen for one, you will not be chosen for this one or any others.

Check out the full prize list and our previous giveaways thus far, here, here, and here.

And remember to subscribe to the RSS feed if you haven’t already! Coming this Friday will be several posts that are very time sensitive!

Update

We’ve closed off new entries and the winner of the monitors is Vincent Sparreboom!

Comments
  1. Nelson, I think the idea is to spread awareness about the 7-day contest, so that people will visit the posts that highlight the prizes and the sponsor’s individual sites. Linking to the main contest site is the easiest way to let everyone know how to participate, and makes it easier for bloggers to have a single link to connect to.

  2. Nelson – the sponsors don’t benefit from the reader’s links back to the kickoff post in any “linkjuice” kind of way, you’re absolutely right. In fact, the links that people are sending back to the kickoff post aren’t even required to pass any kind of linkjuice back to Darren either – that’s simply not the point.

The point of this activity is to spread the word about the entire week’s giveaways. We asked that people link to the kickoff post because it simply makes sense – why send them to the site in general when they can direct them to the actual event’s kickoff?

From an SEO/marketing perspective – it wouldn’t benefit the sponsors to get 700 links in 7 hours to their sites from random sites either. In fact, it could harm them. Even 300 links in to their sites in 2 days when it’s not all that popularly linked a site in the first place would raise red flags to the search engines, and the next thing you know the site’s penalized or worse, banned.

I think people need to stop thinking of links in terms of “linkjuice” all together with this whole situation. (No, not in general, I’d be out of business if they did that.) One of the main benefits the sponsors are getting by having sponsored a prize is EXPOSURE. Sure, the linkjuice is a bonus, but if that was anyone’s ONLY reason for offering to sponsor a prize, I’d love to sit down and have a chat about REAL online marketing because someone has completely led them astray.

  3. Oh – one more thing: There’s another mini writing project giveaway coming up in T-minus 64 minutes…

I managed to make it pretty relevant despite the fact that my blog really has nothing to do with blogging. Stretch your brains a little bit, you can make it relevant.

  8. thanks for the answer Lara, I was asking that for the comment DOM did, which was trying to make Darren look like evil..Darren Chow. jejeje. I think we all participate on these type of events for the sake of some fun and to show a little appreciation to someone who has been busting his ball for about 3 years writing content for us to to understand blogging a little bit, the rest are just details.

  9. Thanks Nelson – I was trying to just be as explanatory as possible with my answer, and I hope I’ve somehow helped to put enough fear and disillusionment to rest at this point.

    On with the FUN!! ;)

  10. I think I have a slim chance with all these entries!

    Still trying!

  13. That is amazing technology, and I’m sure all monitors will be setup to use USB in the near future.
