Services to Ping When you Update your Blog

Posted By Darren Rowse 22nd of November 2004 Blog Promotion 0 Comments

Over the past year I’ve collected a list of services to ping when you update your blog. Here is a list of those I have so far. There are heaps more out there – you might also like to head over to Jeremy’s Services to Ping list also where he’s got a list of 41 or so services (many duplicated here).

Please note – you might not want to ping them all every time as it can take a long time to post anything. The Pingomatic one at the top of the list automates the process and pings many services for you all at once.

  1. How To Blog 105 – Blog Promotion
Okay, no blog is a good blog if it doesn’t have traffic right? Well not exactly you can have a great blog that doesn’t get traffic. The point is that you need to have a strategy for getting traffic to that awesome blog of yours. So I’m going to talk a…

  2. Could you please remove the reference to the XML-RPC service on

I don’t know why it was added in the first place. The service is only available to users who have signed up in advance. Other users are blocked. In order to sign up, the blog must be written in Danish and meet certain other criteria. So I don’t think it is appropriate to include in this list.

Currently I block several hits to the XML-RPC service per second. This is consuming quite a lot of resources on my little server.

    Thanks in anticipation.

  5. Noiblau is a blog on Spanish and European news, political and current affairs, opinions and alternative points of view, in English, by a Spanish expat in Shanghai, China. It’s one person’s opinion on news that affects Spain and Europe.
Highly opinionated to the point of being brash at some points, if political critique is you kind of daily fare, then you would immensely enjoy noiblau.
Step into the world of Spanish issues and feel the passion to the point of wrath that noiblau has for the things that affect his country.
