Scot Longyear from Worshipplus sent in this reader ‘quick tip’:
The old adage that two heads are better than one hold true in blogging. Here are a few advantages:
1. More eyes for proofreading. The more looks you can get before you post, the better your content and clarity.
2. Web scanning. We will send each other links that might make for great future articles for each other’s blogs.
3. Motivation. We are each other’s cheerleaders (minus the back flips and splits).
4. Accountability. We share a Google calendar where we write our tasks as an event. One quick look and we know what the other is supposed to be working on.
Blogging can be a lonely sport. The most valuable tool I have is a blogging partner. Our productivity is more than five times what it would be otherwise. What are you waiting for? Blogging (like life) is much better when it is shared.
Wow, I could seriously not agree more. I never though of this but I can now see how it makes sense.
[…] How to improve your blog by finding a partner(s) By Luke I was reading Problogger when I came by this intresting post by Wordshippl. Here’s what it said […]
Does this mean you did parter up Darren ?
How can you share the profit? Is it clear between you two?
True, Motivating is a major factor. Some times even i get bored of blogging scracthing my head what to write and hey i want a break, but my passiosn always brings me back.
If people can partner up and tell each other someway like what they ar working on is a good idea.It helps the bloggers to grow and more aware of it.
My Hot Image – while I didn’t write this post (it’s a guest post) I’ve partnered up a few times on different projects and found it to be as useful as Scot describes.
I really agree on this recommendation. I recently took on a partner on one of my blogs and it has really livened up the site! She is clearly passionate about the subject that the blog covers, and simply wanted an outlet for her creativity, and also to raise her own profile by blogging for a well known blog in the topic area. It has worked great for me!
I could’nt agree more. I sometimes feel overwhelmed when I think about how a single person could handle all the comments, replying to them and so on.
And yes, motivation and sharing are big plus points too.
Thanks for bringing this up.
Hmm….now that you’ve written about it. I’ve been considering to get my best friend to join in my blogging partner. It will be like the good old days in highschool where we usually worked closely together on lots of projects and programs.
I can vouch for the value of proofreading.
I have a friend in Bogota, Colombia who proofreads most of my articles, and even scans through my older posts, too.
As much as I value the sage and sound advice on SEOMoz, there’s some shocking spleening miskates.
Given the volume of people reading through that stuff, you’d think someone would take care to proofread…
Having multiple writers is extremely good advice, in order to keep traffic flowing to the site as much as possible.
It’s inevitable that there will be times you cannot post, and having backup writers to keep the content flowing is important.

Good comments here. I would add that the guy I partner with is also one of my best friends and business partner. Early on in the development of Blogsplus Network (www.blogspl.us), we agreed on the extent of our partnership – who owns what.
