Domain Competition – 105 minutes to go

Posted By Darren Rowse 12th of January 2006 ProBlogger Site News 0 Comments

My competition for submitting a domain name for my next blog ends in 105 minutes. To be in the running for the $100 (USD) PayPal transfer or Amazon voucher get your entries in according to the details at Help me choose a domain name.

104 minutes now….

Update: Times up friends. You can Stop sending entries.

Thank you for your participation. I’m quite overwhelmed by the numbers of those submitting ideas. While I’m not going to list all the domains submitted (some of those who submitted them said that they’d register them if I don’t) I will say that there were 81 email submissions (a few people sent more than one). Those 81 emails included over 260 URLs for me to consider.

As a result it’s going to take me a little while to sort through them all and make a decision. It’s especially tough as such a large number of them are really great suggestions. At a glance I could go with at least 20 or 30 of them.

Some people sent up to 15 or so suggestions and obviously put a significant amount of time into searching so I want to give this some due consideration and am going to take the list away with me this weekend (we’re doing a mini road trip to yet another wedding I’m conducting) to ponder. I’ll try to make an announcement sometime next week.

  1. Please post the results as soon as you can, we all wait in anticipation.

  2. Yes, I agree with David… We are curious to see the numbers ;-) Darren, can you make a refresh soon?

  3. I recommended he use ProBlogger.Net, but Network Solutions said it was taken

    ;)

  4. Nice A.B. Dada. :) I think this domain would make a decent site, but having the word blogger in the title makes it a little lopsided in what it should be used for.

  5. Next week!? *cries* Well, its great that you are taking the time to seriously think about things.

  6. hehe – yep. I did say in the original post it’d be next week – and now I’m very very glad I did looking at the large numbers of entries!

  7. Its still less than 300 lines to read. So monday, tuesday next week? :) I am excited to see who wins and why.

Also, I wish I would have kept a list of the domains I sent, as some of them were pretty good in my opinion. :)

  8. Best of luck. It’s a tough decision, but a fun one, and isn’t that great?

  9. I was too busy looking up domains for my own new sites, but you should all check out http://instantdomainsearch.com (not my site) for all your lookup needs. It’s an AJAX interface that is extremely fast and useful for these types of activities.

  10. I thought I came up with a really great domain .. http://DifeLoctor.com .. it was brilliant. Life Doctor from down under .. I thought it had everything – then, I took a shower, went out to lunch, had a good dump and figured .. whew! I got that out of my system and glad I never submitted that one ~yuch~ ..

  11. Well, its next week. :) What’d ya choose? And I don’t suppose you can send me my list I sent you… I had a brain fart and did not record them for my own use if you decided not to grab em.

  12. Anxiously waiting :)

  13. Winner has been selected after my other judge has recovered from being ill the last few days.

I’m now in the process of registering the domain before I announce it.
