Chitika Forums

Posted By Darren Rowse 4th of November 2005 Chitika eMiniMalls 0 Comments

Digital Point has opened up a Chitika Forum for discussion around eMiniMalls. It looks like it will be a pretty active forum and one I’ll be participating in. My id over there is Oziii if you were wondering.

By the way – just saw Jeremy posted about his eMiniMall earnings – $700 for the month of October is pretty good seeing as his blog isn’t a product related blog. Congratulations mate.

  1. The more and more I read on your blog about how much you make from your site via ads, the more I wonder how much of those clicks are ‘sympathy’ clicks. I don’t mean that people feel sorry for you or anything like that, more that people like hearing that your making good money from these ads so they click to hear more exciting news about earnings. Are there trends showing increased click ratio from when you post about earnings?
You might have mentioned the above before.
When you said ‘pretty good seeing as his blog isn’t a product related blog’ I thought hmmmmm ‘sympathy’ clicks….

  2. I highly doubt it’s a sympathy thing to be honest. I find that some of my blogs do much better than others with ads and that its generally the ads with the more relevant ads and higher traffic that earn the most.

the other factor is that the largest % of my traffic comes from Search Engines – ie people with no loyalty or sympathy to me – it’s SE traffic that seems to convert best.

  3. I’m not sure ‘sympathy clicks’ really exists – at least not for me personally. Its not something I’d think of doing – I don’t come here and click on a link thinking ‘hey, that’ll bump up Darrens pay packet this month’ – if I do click (rarely) it would be on something I’m interested in, but I generally don’t click ads anyway.

Just to echo Darrens SE statement, my adsense earning follow a trend set by search engine referrals – as referrals go up, so do earnings, as referrals fall, so do earnings etc.

Regulars visitors I assume don;t click off the site via an ad out of the goodness of their heart, and I honestly hope they don;t, because this would make a mockery of the whole advertising system.

  4. From my experience as a regular reader here, I don’t even notice the ads – don’t think I’ve ever clicked on one, except maybe the Chitika one.

ProB is different from Darren’s other blogs – as he said visitors come generally from s/e so more than likely they’ll have no clue who he is.

As Dave said if sympathy clicking was involved it would degrade the usefulness of the whole system – I’d hate to be in AdWords (I’m shortly to trial a $500 a month 6 mth trial of AdWords) knowing this was going on.

  5. I seriously doubt there are any sympathy clicks because the Big G would not have much sympathy for his account if these sympathy clickers showed up on their radar .

I’m sure he is generating revenue from both streams but I would like to hear more about which one pays the most .

  6. thanks for clearing that up :D
i was just curious as i do know some people that do click on ads to help people out and was hoping it was only a small amount.

  7. Thought you might be interested, x74 just released a plugin for integrating eMiniMalls into a Movable Type blog template. This plugin is similar to the WordPress plugin released recently.

  8. Try http://www.click-share.com

I am working with them from 6 mounts and have very good results with very high CPC.

    They also provide products ads.
