So last week we went right through the top five posts on ProBlogger 2014 in each of the categories of monetization, creating content, social media, writing, and general tips. Some of them were surprising, but most weren’t – good advice is good advice, after all! I know a lot of you have seen real results from making these changes to the way you work.
So what we wanted to know was – what is the most popular post on your blog this year? Can you see why it was popular? And more importantly – what can you learn from it that will help you for your content next year? Is it a topic you can find a new angle on? Something you can update for your readers? Something you can turn into a series, an eBook, an eCourse? Is it a topic you enjoyed writing about? Is there a way you can repackage it, say as an audio file or a slideshare? The possibilities are endless, and having information you know your readers already resonate with is a great place to start.
So link up your most popular post in the comments and share it with the ProBlogger community. If you read one you love, tweet it to your friends and followers. I can’t wait to see all the different genres everyone covers.

“How to Set up an Auction Site like eBay” http://www.wpdailythemes.com/plugin/set-auction-site-like-ebay/ was one of our most popular articles.
http://reasontouse.com/phone/oneplus-one-camera-performance-review-with-sample-pictures/
As a tech blogger, this was my most popular post. The reasons were that a) it was about a current gadget and b) it had lots of pictures and help for people.
The key is, you offer help to people, they will like it.

Thanks to all you others who posted your favorites. Darren was right on target. All this info is great!

My most popular post of the year was:
WHY HAVE MORE KIDS?
It all stemmed from this question from a reader: “I don’t want to offend anyone but why do people keep having more kids if they are already exhausted with 1 or 2 they do have?”

My most popular post was:
http://dushonok.com/2013/07/01/diy-doily-embellished-shirt/
I like DIY, especially than it comes to fashion. I also like photography, and I think this post reflects both of my passions well. My readers share the same passions, and I guess that’s why this post is my most popular post of the year.
In the next year I will definitely take more pictures and make more DIY projects!
Well written article, with proper grammatical skills and proper way of writing + superb visual way to describe post. Hats off to you author. I m glad to see such good authors on one of my favourite blogs.A must have boormarked site for blogger.
My highest traffic post is attached below.
I think it did so well because, besides a scan-able layout & nice visuals that I always aim for, it (a) includes a list and (b) was shared by a particularly influencial reader.
In a nutshell it talks about the importance of exposing yourself to things that will feed the ‘calling’ in your life… That will move you closer to fulfilling that thing that ‘you’re made to do’.

i had four that almost tied, they were within 500 page views of each other, with the fifth most popular being a few thousand behind. One of those most popular is from 2008! (Still relevant though)
My most popular is the starting post of a five part series comparing the top 5 template tools for Node.js, a popular web development platform: http://www.bearfruit.org/2014/01/20/node-js-template-showdown-5-options-compared/
The exercise of doing this research showed me a few things, one being that one of my top posts is outdated and needs to be revised. I also realized Tuesday’s and Wednesdays are the hottest days for my site. Thanks!
Sorry if this is a duplicate post (I can’t find my original) My most popular post this year unexpectedly went viral multiple times and was republished on a couple other sites. It’s called: The broader economic impact of donating your art. At last count there were around 70 comments and over 30k facebook shares. And thank you for this forum to share! Lots of interesting posts! http://katevrijmoet.com/blog/broader-economic-implications-donating-your-art/
Thanks for the opportunity to post about our posts, Darren. This post – Seven Powerful Public Speaking Lessons from “Mad Men” – generated a lot of comments and was also selected by Prezi as one of their favourite public speaking posts of 2014: http://wp.me/pwfa1-2Qh

Despite putting a real effort into growing our long-form, editorial content, our top two posts this year, from both a general traffic and social media standpoint, were list-style posts.
Our most visited was part of our 2014 Oktoberfest coverage, “8 More German Beer Festivals that Rival Oktoberfest”: http://www.departful.com/2014/04/8-german-beer-festivals-rival-oktoberfest/
Our most shared post written in 2014 was a short overview of Freeport Bahamas: http://www.departful.com/2014/07/freeport-bahamas-travel/
I find the success of both somewhat baffling when compared alongside other content produced but I’ll take the traffic and the learning that comes along with it. Happy Holidays!
What a great idea! I’m loving reading through everyone’s successes.
My most popular post was also about celebrating the successes. With a new blog, I wrote about hitting and recognizing those first small milestones at: A Great Week for Online Passive Income Journey
DrewryNewsNetwork has an array of popular posts, ranging from restaurant reviews, to vegetable juicing threads, and a tid bit of health and fitness advice.

While I wish one of my more thought-provoking posts was my most popular post, it was this one: http://ohmrstucker.com/how-to-slow-cooked-pork-shoulder-ribs/ It has more eyes on it every day than any other post. I can’t blame folks, cause, RIBS!
Hey.
Your posts kept me entertained for couple of hours now, and I found some of them really useful. Influenced by the great read I decided to share my popular post too;): http://janebrown.org/believe-in-yourself/
It is about believing in yourself, what you are and what you do; about finding the courage to do what you need to do to change your life; and 3 easy steps how to build your belief. I hope you`ll find it somewhat useful. Take care.

My most popular post this year was about a bridal shower question game. It actually peaks a few months before wedding season really hits and then drops back down a little bit. Still working on figuring out how to keep people around the blog after they find these posts, that will be one of the things I work on in 2015. http://chrystinanoel.com/2012/06/07/ideas-for-bridal-shower-question-game/
Hi Darren,
Happy New Year and thanks for inviting us to share – a little hard to say which is my most popular post as I’ve spent the last month or so moving my site from a free wordpress to my stand alone website.
In the past the below as the most popular:
http://www.travellingfrenchies.com/blog/parc-national-de-port-cros-france
I think it is because it is a National Park that not many people outside of France know about and it is amazing.
2nd popular post is probably:
http://www.travellingfrenchies.com/blog/amsterdam-nemo-and-kinetic-sand
I think it is the title that probably has attracted the most attention – I noticed with slightly more quirky titles I get more visitors so will be doing more of this in 2015!
Would love your comments/feedback on my website and blog as I now look towards some niche affiliate programs.
My most popular post of 2014 was
http://ohtoptens.com/funniest-autocorrect-fails-of-all-time/

My most popular post for the year (considering I only started blogging 6 weeks ago) was Part 2 of The Story of Alexander – a heartfelt post about the birth of my son and the first part of his extended stay in NICU. I’m not quite sure why Part 2 was more popular than Part 1 but it will be interesting to see how popular the next instalment is.
