Blogging for the Inspired Soul

Ask any top blogger why they blog and they’ll tell you it’s because they’re passionate about what they do. It shows in their work. It shows through the number of blog followers they have. It shows through the multitude of comments they receive on their posts.

Blogging is not work. If you feel it is, perhaps blogging is not for you. Blogging is an opportunity to share your knowledge and experiences with your readers.

My blog is a retreat where I can post my thoughts, ideas and strategies with whomever visits, and then send them on their way. The quality and value of my posts is the open door for them to return.

Blogging is about sharing your knowledge, reaching out and helping others along on their journey, through your passion for writing. It is not about money although money is an eventual by-product of blogging. Your love for writing and sharing should be your motivation for blogging.

Your goal is to unveil new and fresh ideas that will empower your audience.

“Your blog is the vehicle through which you connect with your readers. To motivate and inspire them to take the next step in their own journey.”

With your writings, you have the opportunity to make a difference. That’s one of the reasons why blogging is so rewarding.

Quality over quantity

Write when you’re inspired to write. Write when you have something significant to share with your audience. Your content must flow through you naturally or your message will suffer for it. Write when the spirit moves you to express, that’s when the good stuff starts to flow!

Writing for one

The written word can motivate, inspire, encourage and empower.

“Regardless of how many readers you have, when you write, you have only one.”

Write as though you’re speaking to a close friend. Make your readers feel as though you wrote the post for them, and them alone. Be yourself and don’t think too much. Just allow the words to flow and keep the momentum going when inspiration hits. That the secret to composing quality content.

What a powerful way to connect with your audience on an emotional level!.

Encourage your audience through motivation and interaction. Ask them their thoughts regarding your post, ask them to share it if they feel it will make a difference for others. Inspire your readers to take action, but in any case, do inspire them.

“Writing for one” allows your readers to see that there is a real person behind the blog and not just someone who pumps out content to increase readership.

Comments—the great motivator

When you provide exceptional content for your readers, they’ll let you know about it by commenting on your posts. One of the most rewarding aspects of blogging is the wonderful feedback from visitors who appreciate your content.

And that’s where those comments come in handy.

There will be times when you find yourself at a loss for the inspiration to write. When that occurs, click on over to review the things your readers had to say. I guarantee you’ll get that warm and fuzzy feeling, and a jolt of writing mojo to keep on going!

“The key to successful blogging is to be yourself and write from the heart. Your readers will follow your every word.”

Visit the blogs of those who have inspired you. They are incredible resources for new ideas and renewed inspiration.

Visualize

One of the most valuable ways to enhance your blog posts is to use images. You heard the saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Allow colorful, relevant images to tell your story. Use them to bring your post to life and to blend in with your message.

Don’t use any old picture but choose photos that resonate with you. People connect visually with images and this is where you can make a great impact.

If you can’t decide what to write or which images to use, my advice is, if it feeds your soul, go with it. Blogging is about being proud of your work product and walking away with a sense of accomplishment.

Blogging is an unfolding. It’s a beautiful journey with no destination.

  1. Sometime, I find myself too worried about the quality of my writing, I’m still struggling on what to write and how to write. But I totally agree with your that blogging is about proud of my work and walking away with sense of achievement that “I’ve help someone”
Tips on writing for someone, makes perfect sense.
    Good article!

    • Hi Ganesh: When you write from the heart and your intentions are good, you never have to worry about the quality of your writing. Thank you for your words of wisdom!

  2. Great Post, but content generation is a great task to bloggers, am currently having problem with getting pictures for my blog post. I learnt its not good to just download pics from google and use it on your blog.

  3. I’ve learned only to write when I am excited to do so. When you first begin blogging, you see so much verbiage re: the importance of having a set posting schedule and writing a specific number of posts each week. Tips like that killed my inspiration. Now I write when it feels right and I have a topic I am excited to share. I have never enjoyed blogging more!

  4. Thank you for this post! It is something that many of us probably need to hear more often. It is a reminder to me, when I get discouraged or wonder why I am doing what I am doing, that I am doing it because I have something to share.

I write because I think I may be able to help people. I don’t make much money, visits rise steadily, but aren’t through the roof. Even comments are sometimes sparse. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it. You have reminded me that it is. Thanks.

    • Hi Vicki: When you follow your passion and reach out to others through your valuable content, your business will grow naturally. Do what you love and the money will follow.

Focus on success and what you believe in. When you reach out to help others, the Universe will return that kindness and generosity to you.

You’re on the right path. I wish you great success.

  5. Many people start blogging only for earning. But most of them can’t continue because blogging is not for making money. If you love blogging, do it, then money will come surely.

  6. Lori
Good one. Quality over quantity and Visualize are good one like start up bloggers should realize the importance. Manickam

  7. Hi Lori,
I agree about writing when we feel inspired to do so. I have found myself trying too hard to push out a post and end up feeling not good about it.

Also when I send a newsletter to my readers I make sure I have something of value to share with them.

    • I feel exactly the same. When you’re trying to write too much, you end up feeling not good about it.

    • I agree Vlad, and your content will suffer for it. Write when you’re ready and the spirit moves you to, then the words will flow effortlessly. Your readers will appreciate for your wisdom and insight that much more.

  8. Great post! I totally agree about adding images to the posts… Many blogs don’t and it’s bugging me… I need something visual! And I’m sure I’m not the only one!!!

    • Hi Marie: Yes, images capture the eye and draw attention to your content. Did you know that your reader is 600 times more likely to read your content if there is video or images on the page?

      Thanks for your insight.

  9. I don’t think it has NO destination, I think the destination is what you make of it… but maybe I am stretching the metaphor too far? ;p

    • Hi Nat, well, it depends on how you look at it.

There is no end to blogging, but it’s a beautiful ongoing journey with many winding paths, the end of which is never in sight. It can be an exciting adventure or a bus that we need to take every day.

It all depends on how you look at it. To me, it’s an awesome adventure!

  10. Hi,
    Very inspiring post!
    Best Regards
    Classier Corn

  11. Thanks Lori…

Your post is exactly what I needed to start my week. Truly
inspirational, and one of the very few posts that I’ll save for
    future (and frequent) reference.

    All the best,

    Jon

  12. Hi Lori,

Visualizing is a great secret to success. We see things by picturing them, so providing clear, colorful images on our posts is a great way to draw people in.

We are creatures who rely on the senses. We see bright shiny things and get drawn in.

Since I started adding pictures to each post my readership increased. When I don’t include a pic, I notice less comments, less chatter, and less interest overall. The power of pictures.

Make posts personal. Write from your heart, like you are chatting with a friend over a casual meal. Remember, it’s personal not business. The more personal your blog, the more you resonate with folks with a similar viewpoint.

Some blogs that lack super creative writing styles or designs draw in droves of readers. It’s all about the personal, down to earth style used by the blogger. Puts us at instant ease.

Thanks for sharing your insight Lori.

    Ryan

    • Thank you Ryan, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Very well written comment and very insightful!

I wish you all the best in everything you do!

      Blessings,

      Lori

  13. Hi Lori,

I honestly love your post. It has reached me into a much deeper level because it’s exactly how I see blogging. I like how you described the essence of it and I certainly agree with you, it should be something inspirational and contributory.

Now all I hope for is to be the best blogger I can be, being able to write correctly and creatively as well as connect to the readers on an emotional level.

Thanks for the inspiration and cheers!

  14. What a great post! Very inspiring. I started a business, producing both a print and email newsletter for the community I live in and because I’m obligated to produce content weekly and quarterly along with not having a whole lot of heart in it, it is very forced at times.

I also do private guitar lessons and started a blog to reach those that dont live in my area. I love playing guitar and talking “shop.” The blog is only a couple of weeks old but I enjoy it and write when I want to. If I dont make gobs of cash from affiliate sales or PPC, so be it (although it would be nice) Articles like this one are a great reminder of why we should blog and help inspire the next post. Thanks for writing this Lori!

  15. “The key to successful blogging is to be yourself and write from the heart. Your readers will follow your every word.” I really like this word. Actually, when we write from the heart it`s make me more close to the reader and I can see a different. Thanks Lori. I hope your article will be inspired to me to continue in blogging.

  16. Great article Lori! I think this can apply to any blogging, not just articles or informative pieces. I try to follow all these steps when I write my poetry or short stories on my blog. Even if one person comments, I know I have struck a chord somewhere and it will allow me to explore what resonated with them. I think this is priceless information. Thanks for sharing!

  17. “Blogging is not work.” I so wish it weren’t for so many people. Blogging is truly about one’s passion to share with others what s/he got.
