Have you ever considered starting a “Blog U”?

Sort of like a blogging college. People could apply on a subscription base and complete a series of “classes” with you. Then you could graduate them and give them your seal of approval as certified probloggers.

I just visited your site for the first time today and already feel much more informed, I can only imagine how I would feel after completing “problogger University”?!?!?

Just wanna say thanks as now I feel I’m getting somewhere.
Before reading your blog late last year my site had a page rank of 1/10, now it is 4/10 (highest page has a PR of 5).
I believe i got this improvement by following some of your ideas.
Some of the ideas I had previously thought of, but its not until you read it on a successful site that you get the motivation to do it :D

I now have a lot of top 10 results on Google and my traffic is improving weekly.
Perhaps I will finally get that elusive AdSense cheque :D

Your information and attitude are wonderful, thank you. I’ve been looking into blogging as a back-up for my futile career soon ending and as an outlet for my original desire to write for a living when I left college. That was 30 years ago, but I’m getting there.

I’m writing to suggest that perhaps there’s at least one reason fellow bloggers/others might be upset at your focus on making money…some of the people payng you could be scam artists. I say that because I’m almost certain a link – from your making money section, in fact – was a guy I briefly worked with until it was apparent he was renewing keyword contracts of (mostly retail store) clients without asking the client’s permission (using a cleverly-worded autorenew agreement). He also was selling/offering a pop-up blocker software for consumer download which not only was spyware but also delivered its own full-screen pop-up that overrode IE search results. Just a few of the ploys he used from his Florida boiler room operation (drug dealing being another side business). My beef with you on this is, while I can’t expect you to thoroughly research the practices of everyone to whom you lend credibility by providing their contextual links, I’d expect you to review their privacy policies (his is a cleverly worded license to legally spam on behalf of others), or at least expect them to have an address or corpoate information for contact and background somewhere on their site besides an 877 number no one answers (on purpose in the case of my guy) and an email address where complaints of spam will be reviewed (he never did, of course). Is what he does legal? Probably. Is it completely unethical? Of course. If your attitude is “not my problem” that’s a problem, no matter how busy you are. It DOES matter if you make money off guys who scam your readers without conducting some due diligence. It’s the kind of thing that can hurt your blog brand and ultimately harm the entire industry. Am I expecting too much of you by expecting the same nominal policing of advertisers from you that’s done by mainstream media? I think not.
