What Is Your Blogging Goal for February?

Posted By Darren Rowse 9th of February 2010 Reader Questions 0 Comments

A few days back I asked readers a question:

What Have You Been Putting Off and What’s Holding You Back?

Some of the responses to the question in comments (and via email and Twitter) revealed a lot of bloggers really wanting to step things up and get what they’ve been putting off done.

So – lets set some goals – what do you want to achieve by the end of February?

I’m not going to be calling you up to check up to see if you’re meeting your goals – but hopefully in putting them down publicly you’ll find yourself a little more spurred on to reach what you want to achieve.

My Goal for February: I want to get a new E-Book out the door by the end of the month.

  1. I developed a Q1 marketing plan. One of those goals was to hit 500 RSS readers (done as of two days ago). Now I’m looking at picking up more freelance work and publishing many more guests posts.

  2. My goal is to get a thousand unique visitors in a month, I keep hovering above 500 but below 1k :(

  3. Accountability at its finest! :-)
I have 3 goals for February:
    1) Implement some visual changes to my blog (I know what they are, just need to do it)
    2) Change out my opt-in offer (have been sitting on this WAY too long)
    3) Finish up a course I’ve been playing around with for a few monhths! (This is my biggest priority as my readers have actually started asking questions about this!).
    btw….LOVING the Third Tribe!!!

  4. My goal… wow, I never thought about that.

I’d like to get an Alexa rank of 100,000 or less by the end of this month with an RSS reader count of at least 50… I know that sounds small, but hey, gotta start somewhere right?? ;)

Besides that, I’m brainstorming a product package to provide… but I’m not ready to start it yet. Or maybe I should start it and then see where it goes? I don’t know.

  5. Great question as it forced me to really think about it and not just let myself get vague. My goals for February are to take my brand-spanking new blog (only 35 days old) and double the current pageviews, plus get over 20 subscribers (which will more than double what I have now). Probably doesn’t sound like much but if I do that every month (continue to double), it will add up to a lot in a few months.

  6. My goal is:

Increasing revenue and performance through E-Book technique. Hope it’ll works! =)

  7. My goals for this month are: to hang on, continue to fuel my passion for writing, blog with intention, meaning, and purpose, and continue to learn from and become inspired by other bloggers.

  8. I just want to provide more strength to my blog with good contets and relevant backlinks.

  9. I have to get my total posts up to 50 by the end of the month – I am at 17 right now

get my new site up an running

  10. My goal is simple – write 15 posts at least (I am currently on shameful post count of 2) and continue increasing my search engine positions for my 4 major keywords I target (I am currently at the bottom of page 1).

I am always careful with setting goals – when I set them too high, I simply don’t reach them and I feel bad, but when I make them too easy, and finish them before the deadline, I have no motivation to put in a little bit of extra effort to go even further. I am always trying to find some kind of a middle way – like a Buddha or something :)

P.S. No I am not Buddhist!

  11. Do you ever sleep?

  12. Quality info once again.
Bookmarking rhis page, becoming a follower of this blog.

  13. My goal is to increase traffic from search engines.

  14. I want to actually get a check from Adsense (now that I’ve met my first goal and straightened out the tracking on my two niche sites!) Oh – and I want to hit consistent >1500 monthly page views (~50/day or better) on the traffic-based site I just started writing for so that *they* send me a check every month. Hitting the traffic-based site’s goal means I’ll be making a monthly income from blogging that’s actually more than I’m spending – a long way from self-supporting, but it’s a start.

  15. Newbie question –

If your blog starts making money – do you need a business license?

So you need a license from day 1 if you sign up for something like adsense?

If not, is it better to have one if the things you are blogging about cost money, or you want to deduct the cost of a computer, but your normal tax situation doesn’t pile up enough for itemized deductions?

    Thanks,

    Dave

    • Dave – its best to ask a local accountant that question. I know here in Australia you can earn up to a certain level without needing to do too much if you declare your income but perhaps in other countries you might need to register earlier. Really will depend upon your location and the law there.

  16. I would like to find at least three diverse sources for blog topics which will increase my blog postings to at least three days per week.

  17. Everyone her has many big goals. I wondering when I will have such goals? as I have just started my blog..

But anyways My resolution for February:

    Total post : 7
By the end of month I will have 5 followers.
    Back links: 25

    All th best others.. :)

    • Hetal – don’t be overwhelmed by others big goals – you have to start somewhere and I think you’ve got some realistic goals there that I hope you can exceed!

  18. Thanks Darren,

I was thumbing thru the book, and wasn’t sure… I’m in the US, so will search a little more.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

  19. This is great! I love declaring goals publicly – keeps you honest. Are we making a pact to check in with each other at the end of Feb and see if we reached our goals?

This is just what I needed – the reality of my day job has really kicked in the last couple of weeks, and I’m dragging my tail on my personal project – which is my true passion.

My goal for February is to launch my new blog, including another three new posts, and write two guest posts for other blogs (one lined up already)

  20. Declarations of goals publicly is indeed very powerful.

So what I would like to get done in the rest of February is

    1. 8 more posts on my own blog, one of them being a mega list blog.

    2. 3 guest posts.

So that’s total of 11 posts in 18 days:-)

    Watch this space:-)

  21. My goal is to keep growing my business. I write things down with a time line and follow the time line and make any adjustments as I go on.

  22. I have annual goals of:
    –210 posts in 2010
–bump my traffic upto 100 hits a day
–complete a free resource and an ebook for sale

    So in February,
–I need to get 18 articles done plus 4 unpublished articles for later travel time.
–Schedule two interviews (just did my first and it really helped my traffic)
–Create 5 titles that are SEO hot titles
–Write 30 minutes a day, Monday through Saturday, on my ebook beginning, February 17. (may sound like a strange start time but I am writing my ebook as a spiritual discipline during Lent. from Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17 to Easter Sunday, April 4th)

Thanks for asking. Appreciate Problogger tremendously.

  23. My big Feb plans is get through most of 31DBBB! I’ve started on day one today and will be working through the rest as I go! Started tracking my stats as well. Let’s see where I am by 2/28!

  24. My goal for 2010 is to increase my daily traffic hits by 50%, increase my list – newsletter subscribers, and fine tune my SEO strategies.

  25. Goals for February/March:
    – keep up the daily posting on my personal blog (so far, so good)
    – set up two more blogs (one for my humour, the other about writing and editing)
    – get the design of all three blogs up to scratch (I’ve got a long way to go).

  26. What an inspiring bunch of comments!

My goal is to get my RSS subscribers to 300 and boost my traffic to 10,000 visitors a month.

    Cheers~

  27. i want to design a new series for the blog to launch for March and use my archives to drive followeres for this series

  28. My blogging goal for February is to start on a project that I can talk about on a daily basis. Just like what Julie did in the movie Julie & Julia. She cooked every recipe found on Julia Child’s recipe book.

  29. My biggest plan is to get more organized. I have some ideas, but I am trying to go from step 1 to step 12 in one day.
