What do YOU Do with Your Blog When You Go on Vacation?

Posted By Darren Rowse 23rd of December 2007 Reader Questions 0 Comments

There’s four emails in my inbox today which all ask the same question.

‘What do You Do with Your Blog When You Go on Vacation?’

I’ve written about it previously (links below) but I thought it might make a good reader discussion question (and topical too as many of us are on the cusp of taking time off).

So what do you do with your blog when you travel, take a vacation, need to take extended time away from the blog?

Looking forward to seeing the mix of answers.

  1. For me, I try to blog on the move but it is sporadic and difficult to get any creative juice going. The idea of pre-posting and getting guest bloggers is good, may try that some other time.

  2. it’s not overly hard for my photoblog. i just setup the daily updates as many days as required in advance. i don’t even tell my readers i’m gone as i’d rather they didn’t know!

  3. I guess it depends what is your blog about and your blogging style. Personally I blug from my gut so I cannot think of having someone blog while I am away. I also cannot write the post before hand, because I really need to have a desire to blog.

Wiritng a few short posts while on vacation is not a bad idea, share a few pictures, and share your vacationing spirit with your readers.

To me blogging is a life style, so I want my readers to feel what I am living.

But then to each is own.

  4. When I go on vacation I like to blog about what I am doing. But I have only been blogging since last June. It has replaced watching television so I don’t really look at it as something to be avoided when we go away.
