Yesterday I wrote about how to choose a topic to write about for blog posts and today in this video post I want to follow up this topic with a video demonstration of how I use a great service called AideRSS to analyze previous posts on my blog and observe trends in both the topics and styles of writing that can help to decide upon future topics to cover.
You won’t simply want to repeat past topics that have done well but will probably do better to extend upon them.
AideRSS can be used in lots of ways to track other blogs and help find great content on other blogs but for me this analysis of my own posts has become a valuable tool. I hope you enjoy this screen cast.
Darren, this is a great demonstration, but like some comments above it seems that the low trafic volume blogs get mixed-up data. Other then AideRRS, what else is out there and what are the pro’s and con’s of those? What is your ultimate recomendation?
@Vigceo — Actually, the mixed up data doesn’t really relate to traffic, and tends to relate more to things like non-standard comment formats and us needing to fix delicious analysis since their new version launch.
That said, wonky analysis is still not cool, hence why we always ask people to give us a holler is something’s not working so we can get it taken care of. :)
I have never seen this before. I have no posts above one so it gives me something to think about going forward. Think I will start by recommending AideRSS to others. Thanks
Melanie, than you for the clarification. This will help me in my quest to utilize a great stats tool (a.k.a. AideRRS, wink, wink) to maxmize my efforts on what type of articles my readers like!
Darren,
I’m a huge AIDRSS fan – only because you can control the “faucet” (good, best, top 20) and then feed it into Google Reader.
John
These are great tools, you are showing. It is amazing what kind of analysis we can make with RSS etc.
Yani
Great tool. Thanks for sharing it. By the way, I thought you did alright there – don’t know why some people thought you sounded depressed.
went to AideRss and have analyzed my feeds. I didn’t show to have any Best Posts so clearly I still have a lot to work on. But with this tool I atleast know what direction to head in.
