SOBCon 07 – 12 May

Sobcon ButtonTwo days ago I had a nice little surprise when I opened my inbox. I got a sneak peak at a blogging conference that is running for the first time later this year. Interestingly enough its being run by and featuring a group of bloggers that I know well and respect (although they’re all obviously good at keeping secrets).

The conference is SOBCon 07 and it is on in Chicago on 12 May (with a cocktail party the night before). The cost is $350 USD if you book before April 1.

The conference schedule and speaker list looks like a lot of fun – I just wish I were in the area in May.

    Darren,

I’m the other half of Chris Cree. I’m the one in charge of the hotel details (anything other than the computer stuff). This conference is going to be fabulous and the accommedations are absolutley awesome. Attendees are going to have fun and learn alot. The speaker line up is incredible. I’m excited and I don’t even blog “yet”.

I’m sorry you won’t be in country for this event. We do appreciate your support and thanks for speading the word on the conference.

Give my best to the land of Oz. I lived up in Broome for a year many years ago. I have many great memories of the people. Can’t wait to get back to Australia some day soon.

G’day and thanks for all your support!

    Lisa Cree

P.S. This is my first comment post ever!

  4. If you were such good friends with them surely they’d have let you in on a conference like this and got you to keynote it? If someone asked me for an example of a relational blogger you’d be the most high profile example I could name. You must link out more than any other blog I’ve come across and seem to go out of your way to interact with other bloggers. I am not doubting you don’t know them, just wondering why they wouldn’t have done everything they could to involve you. I’d have gone if you were speaking even at the exorbitant price of $350 for a day. I don’t know any of the other speakers names so I don’t think I’d shell out that much for it without some sort of draw card. But anyway good luck to them and their venture, I think there will be more and more of these types of conferences in the future of blogging.

  5. Hey Darren, Thanks for the mention of the conference. (I know I’m slow on the draw when my non-blogging wife gets a comment in before I do! Sheesh!)

I’m confident that those who attend will be very glad they did in spite of the fact that we’ll be missing out on seeing you, Darren. Chicago is a long way from Melbourne!

  6. Darren, You have to go! I hope you reconsider, and maybe do a guest speakership over there.. I’m actually a plane ride away from Chicago, so I may think about it as well…

  7. Thanks for sharing the news about this event Darren. Perhaps if this one goes well we could start one in Australia and travel over to visit you? I know I’d be up for a road trip. :)

  8. @Chris, once Liz… Knights you as an SOB, you’ll be proud to wear the sticker!
Good on ya Liz, hope I can attend.

  9. Thanks Darren for mentioning SOBCon – this is going to be a wonderful event and we appreciate your kind words. You can bet we will have a heck of a lot of fun! All the best.
