How Improving Another Blog will Help You Improve Yours

Today I want to challenge you to help another blogger to achieve their goals in some way – and I’ll explain in the podcast how it has a knock-on effect of helping you improve yours.

There are many ways you can help another blogger along their path, and I outline quite a few in today’s episode. Some are big and some are small, but perhaps the easiest way to identify one is to work out how you would like to be helped, and offer that to someone else.

There’s really no limit to what you can do.

  1. Hi Darren,

This is pure and simple good karma at work. I follow this strategy by commenting on blogs to add helpful content to posts. I promote bloggers through twitter and Facebook and G Plus, and I link in to their posts, and I play match maker too. I added 2 friends to a popular tribe on Facebook for travel bloggers recently. I saw the opportunity to boost their blog traffic and income and jumped at it. This tact only grows your blogging success because giving freely helps you to receive easily.

    Thanks!

    Ryan

    • Ryan,

You’ve beautifully summarized the rationale behind this very important concept of becoming a better blogger…I adopt your views 100%.

      Enjoy paradise!

      Always,
      Akaahan Terungwa

    • Ryan,

How come your Alexa traffic rank in the U.S. continues to plummet, though you write 3 to 7,000 word blog posts? You need to blog everyday in order to improve your own SEO.

  2. I source content as part of my job so I’m always coming across bits that I’d like to share with my readers. I try to do a roundup post once a month with links to my favorite pieces. It’s content for me and traffic for them.

I also love the idea of sending an encouraging email. I get so many pitches in my inbox that it’s always wonderful and surprising when I find an email from someone who just wanted to say I like what you’re doing and thanks. Time for me to do the same for someone else! I’m off to find a blogger to surprise.

  3. Hello Darren,

Listened to the podcast and loved it…

I do visit blogs I come across, leave a comment and make sure I promote their content on all my social networks.

I believe that kindness can be paid in many forms, and once you help a person the way you’d like to be helped, good things will definitely come your way.

    Thanks..

    Have a blessed weekend

I am a student from Nigeria and a blogger.
I think that is a good idea and feel it will really help because it will establish friendship, backlink and experience in the blogosphere.

  5. Improving another blog will surely help in improving ones blog especially by placing nice comments on there post and getting a backlink afterwards. Just like what you do here on Problogger which benefits a whole lot of bloggers out there. My blog is also about helping other bloggers and it’s been an awesome experience.

  6. I always love reading your blog. You are usually picking me up when I’m a little deflated. This is a very important post for all bloggers to read because seeing stats go down could be a breaking point for many start up bloggers.
Like any business, it receives peak sales and unexpected lows. The same applies to blog and so it is important to remember this and practice resilience and persistence to push those numbers back up again! (Or just wait for them to rise again.)

  7. This is a pretty good idea though many bloggers haven’t fathomed this way of helping a fellow blogger improve their blog.

  8. The best thing for blogging is bloggers working together.
If everyone spread the word about even just one other, we are all better off.
We need to remember that there are millions of bloggers.

  9. Actually it’s a best way to rank two blog site at once. I want to know that how to get alexa ranked quickly?

  10. While improving another blog, you can also improve yours but auto syndicating content with third party application for Facebook fan page. Facebook fan pages will not only help other bloggers improve their blog by commenting on your business Facebook fan page, but you’ll also have the grand opportunity to keep vital discussion going when content from your blog is automatically syndicated through a third-party app to your Facebook fan page. In turn, this will keep people deeply connected, networking to the fullest positive business potential, while everyone improves their search engine optimization potential, organic traffic from Facebook, and potentially increase advertising revenue from ads on their blogs. Agree?

  11. I agree with Justin. very enjoyable read and packed with good info.

  12. Hi Darren,
