Many bloggers have been commenting on Google’s addition of RSS feeds to their personalized home page (see Steve Rubel and John Battelle for starters) but I’m yet to see anyone suggest that adding your own RSS feeds to your personalized Google page could be good for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes.
Longer term readers will remember the tip I posted a few months ago regarding how adding your RSS feeds to a MyYahoo! account seemed to get you indexed quicker and better in Yahoo!
As soon as I heard about Google’s move to add RSS to it’s personalized home pages my mind went back to this post and wondered if the same thing might be true for improving one’s rankings in Google. Needless to say that yesterday I added every RSS feed I have to my own Google page and am waiting and watching to see if it has any impact on my ranking in Google. Nothing to report yet (and I’m not sure how I’ll know if it does have an impact – unless it’s dramatic) – however it can’t hurt can it?
This may be a good thing to try out … but I am still waiting for Google Alerts to be delivered via RSS
I think that may be right. I added my feed to My Yahoo page and Yahoo has consistently rated my blog better than the others, though MSN has now caught up. There’s also the Creative Commons aspect, in that Yahoo gives special prominence to sites with this licence displayed, I believe.
Hmm I’ve done the same although I doubt it will work. I think MSN’s beta service http://www.connectedinternet.co.uk/blog/_archives/2005/7/22/1065367.html has the most potential although I’m using Rojo http://www.connectedinternet.co.uk/blog/_archives/2005/7/22/1063909.html as I like the way it aggregates my feeds and clearly shows new posts
Kidino – there’s no need to wait. My Google alerts all come to me via RSS. You’ll find it under Feed Settings in the left menu.
I didn’t even know about these services.
I had the same thought as you, based on your tip about My Yahoo. The first thing I did was add my own blog feeds.
Maybe you’ve written about this elsewhere, but won’t Google site maps do what you’re aiming for?
I run a website / news/blog about Alicia Keys, im happy becasue when someone searches for “Alicia Keys” im the very first result!, not even sure how google found it but thats amazing.
I still have got 2 learn a lot though i have a blog since i am just a newbie.Got to learn frm u!!
