“Where do I find Free Blogger Templates?”

I’m regularly asked by bloggers using different blog platforms where they can get nice designs for their blogs, usually for free. I’m a WordPress User and therefore know a few good spots for WP templates (here, here, here, here, here, here and here for starters) but one of the platforms I’m less familiar with that many blogs use is Blogger.com.

Gecko and Fly have a nice list of well designed Blogger Templates that I think I’ll be sending people to from now on. Most are designs imported in from WP designs that are quite unlike Blogger.com default designs.

Share your Free Blogger Templates below if you’ve got any good sources.

  1. Blogger templates: that site seemed to redirect me to site upon site. Is anything shady happening with that?

  2. one of my old template before i change to new one.
You guys can get it http://delang-d.blogspot.com/2007/11/free-my-template-to-give-away.html
    thanks.

  3. Thanks for posting these links for templates! I will see if I can use any of them.

  5. Thanks for posting these links for templates! I will see if I can use any of them.

  6. There is a lot of things to learn on blogging and blogging is still in the beginning stage and I hope there will more to learn about it.

  7. I for one have seen way too many ugly looking blogger templates and decided to compile my own list of probably thee best designed new blogger templates I have come across. which can be found at http://morefreethings.blogspot.com/2007/11/blogger-templates.html
This is merely my opinion you may think otherwise.

  8. Thanks for your free template, its very help me

  9. I get completely turned off when I visit a blog with an ugly or hard to navigate template! If you use blogger, I’d recommend you get a template that is appealing to the eye, search engine optimized (to a certain extent), and has space for ads and subscribing to an rss feed.

  10. Definitely the Free Templates help us to save time and money. And, if the blogging is a tool that help us to give a better ranking to our pages….why not to use it?

  11. I would love to get new templates other than the annoying blogger basic ones but I’m afraid they are not that reliable.

Would i face a lot of problems using them? Are they harder to manage? What would happen to the layout setting page and all that, would blogger adjust its self to the new template that i uploaded?

What is killing me is that the basic blogger template that I”m using is too @#$% tight! It makes it hard to read long posts. Is there a way to make the template any wider? through the HTML or something?

One option i would love to have is the category buttons on the top of the blog ( like the ones on the top of this page ), can those be added to blogger?

    Thanks for your time.

  12. Thanks for posting these links for templates. I am searching good templates for my blog http://www.articles2u.com

  15. My company recently started a “quality” blog template site that hosts Blogger and WordPress templates. Our staff surfs the web in search of the best free blog templates and then adds them to our library.

We’re still in our growing stage but we’ll be ramping up in the next several months. For now, check us out and download all the templates you want!

  16. http://jackbook.com/ has a number of templates converted from WordPress.

Thanks for this site. I also got to see more and good ones at that.

  17. I’m new here and found my self reading for 2 hours in this site jumping from one post to another.
Love this blog and this post came just in time for me,
I’m searcing for a template a new blog I’m openning,
also like the some blogger templates found in some comments.

    Good post.

  18. there are a lot of different designs. thanks so much everyone. i was looking for also templates for kids. does anyone know gfunny ones?

  19. I use Drivel because it is open source, and then blogspot.com’s default layouts. I believe you can edit the layouts, and I have done a bit of hardcore html editing.
My blog is not a big money maker, just a labour of love really.

It is good to learn the basics of html anyway, I recommend w3c schools or webmonkey.

  20. You know what Darren? I HATE YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH! Because your website looks GREAT! I LOVE IT! Hehehe

Mine looks ok BUT doesn’t display right on IE… I Envy you…. Errrrrrr :D Can have your template? hehe

    Check it out http://livingsoultech.blogspot.com

  21. Hi, I am hosting right now a blog that is really good in terms of content though design is weird at the most. I am looking for a great design for my blog.

Would you please visit my blog and comment on where I could find a good template for it, and also on how else I can improve the looks of the blog. Thank you.

    My blog is located here:

    http://www.lenxworld.blogspot.com

  22. I found http://www.pyzam.com/bloggerlayouts

They have around 2000 templates and I have not a single issue with any of them. I found a template that fits me perfectly. I also downloaded several for later use. By far it is my favorite and most plentiful website for layouts to use on blogspot/blogger.

  23. I have a number of Blogger template designs that you can get freely at my blog. Main features of the templates are that the designs are simple, flexible, and can be completely customized to your style from the Settings panel, without tweaking the CSS.

Check them out and see what you think. Maybe you can add some comments on how to improve it.

  24. At blogger.com you get a variety of choices, if you click on mine than you can see that I have a pretty good design considering that I never had to pay a penny. If you join blogger than you get to choose your own design from a list of 45 previewable templates.

  25. thx for the leads, i’ve been looking all over for some decent blog layouts

  26. Definitely the Free Templates help us to save time and money.

  27. Blogger.com provides great templates at the perfect price; FREE!!

  28. It even lets you save your work and retrieves it when you come back to the site (using cookies I believe). I used to have one of the generic Blogger template but had gotten tired of the look, and wanted a 3 column blog.

  29. I am trying to look for an adsense friendly template for my blog: http://www.scribbledthought.com

Can someone advise for a good template?

    Thanks!

When I signed up for my first blogger blog I could play with the template plenty. Now it’s inflexible and useless. Even template generators aren’t working. It’s almost impossible to get images into the template.

  31. no… they’re WP themes.
i hope you will write a list of “Free Joomla Templates” someday.
It will be so great for me….. :)

  32. thx for the leads, i’ve been looking all prace wysokościowe malowanie dachów malowanie elewacji

  33. The Gecko and Fly sites indicate that they’ve ceased Blogger template development because of Blogger’s switch to XML. Can anyone comment on the likelihood of these classic templates becoming obsolete due to such changes? I’d like a nicer template, but don’t want to run the risk of crashing my blog.

  34. those who say blogger templates are great and perfect; yes you are right, but everybody has a different taste and blogger templates are so useless for many bloggers.

  35. I often wonder about if Blogger will cease the support of “classic” templates but I don’t think they will.

Reason: because those who have (external) hosting have to use “classic” mode and not new blogger and then “publish” the blog to their hosting. Of course this is different than just having a URL that is set to show your blogspot address (those people can use “new” blogger).

I posted it ages ago, but here it is again:
    http://www.suckmylolly.com

Plenty of non generic blogger themes.

(sure the generic ones are OK, but they’re just SOOOOO boring)

  36. I still curious with the private rights issue dealing on the WP themes. It is allowed to edit other people design and then give it label as ourselves that created it?

  37. http://www.eblogtemplates.com/

this site has got awesome templates for both WP and blogger. It also includes instructions about getting the templates uploaded easily. I have come across a lot of templates, but those offerd here seems to be the bests.

and as an opinion, the gecko and fly was really mediocre.

    thanks to all.

  38. hi, i have compiled a list of links from where we can get the free blogger templates of our choice. Go through the below link..

    http://www.techsagar.com/2008/02/free-blogger-templates.html

And also suggest me if you know any other sites providing free blogger templates.

  39. Personally I’ve always just used the basic “Minima” template and then modified it to fit the content.

I can’t decide if it’s better to modify the content to fit the design, or modify the design to fit the content…

  40. Your site is good. Thanks for free themes.

  41. Uploading a different template after you have setup many widgets in a Blogger template can cause some of your widgets to lose. In such a situation, manually converting the existing template to 3 columns is the best option.

If anyone wants to understand the under the hood details of 3 column Blogger templates, I recommend the article series Blogger Three Column Templates Explained. This will give you the confidence to convert your template in to three columns on your own.

  42. nice template from you, hope there are more templates soon. Thanks

  43. This is a lot of great free wordpress templates : http://parandroid.com/gallery/index.php?s=template

  44. I find it really difficult to find a really good theme for wordpress. First off, as someone who has virtually no experience with wordpress I find it really difficult to judge if a certain theme is safe. Yes of course there’s themes from the source http://themes.wordpress.net/, which can’t get any safer, but they’re boring. I don’t have the experience and knowledge to check a theme’s code for unwanted codes and referrals. Secondly, there aren’t a lot of themes that have a modern feel. I really like for instance the gridlock theme, but then again, I have no idea if it’s safe or not. A lot of themes are either cool and masculine-looking or feminine and very suburban. Apparently, there’s no middle ground. I’m getting frustrated! I need a 3 column, widget and adsense ready, feminine yet cool and modern, safe and free theme for a fashionblog.

  45. Good information and there is a lot of choice for word press blogs and the flexibility for blog spot is limited.
Any way good post and thank you.

  46. Thanks for these free wonderful wp themes.

  47. Thanks for these cool wp themes. I like it :)

  48. Looks like you’ve got the blogger templates covered but someone up there for a free joomla template site.

  49. Here’s the ultimate source for my blogger templates:

WP or Blogger? You might have a hard time choosing a template because they’re all great-looking.
