How to prepare for #PBEVENT

On Thursday 14 we held our first live #PBEVENT Twitter chat with some of our attendees. As we expect from our blogging community it was a lively, friendly chat with plenty of tips from experienced attendees for those of you who are first-timers. (The visual above is a cloud of the most used words. No surprises seeing great blog people there!)
There were a few recurring themes during the chat which inspired this post.
Take a step back for a moment and think about how to prepare yourself
Are you a list-maker, note-taker or a think-on-your feet person? Whichever type you are, now would be a good time to reflect on what you hope to get out of the event. Perhaps a list of people you would like to say “hi” to, or a specific question for a speaker?
We’ve created an action-packed, fact-filled schedule that we know will give you some great actionable tasks to take you in the right direction when you get home. Make a note of the sessions you think would be best to attend. Don’t worry if there are clashes. Most of the sessions will be available as audio files after the event (included in your ticket price).

Prepare 5 questions you can ask others at the event
#PBEvent is a very sociable affair! It’s wonderful to watch URL friends become IRL friends (thanks Edenland for that quote). There are occasions when you might find yourself next to someone you don’t know, so having a few questions in mind might get the conversation going. You never know where that conversation will lead! Some great collaborative ideas have come out of previous events.
Get ready to step out of your comfort zone and meet someone new
With many blogging friends coming together from all over the place, this is often the once a year opportunity to meet up with great pals. It can be tempting (and feel safer) to just stick within your little group. However, we’re all in favour of “wobbly courage” so we’d like to encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and meet someone new (especially if they are standing on their own), we promise you won’t regret it.
