I don’t mean to scare you this week about trolls and dropping off the face of Google, but it can happen – and forewarned is forearmed, as they say. I’ve got some good news sprinkled in, just in case ;-)
Why I’m leaving Snapchat and so are all your friends | Owen Williams
“We’ve all moved to Instagram Stories. I never thought I’d do it, but eventually, as I used it more, I found Instagram’s rip-off of Snapchat to be more authentic. Suddenly, instead of checking one app for beautifully manicured photos, and the other for raw feeds, I could get everything in one place… and it actually worked better.”… it was bound to happen, but still sad all the same!

When bad stats are a good thing | Builtvisible
It probably won’t help you when you’re just starting out and thinking you’re miles behind on traffic and stats, but it can be reassuring and motivating when you hit a slump.

Adele – and the importance of authenticity | Mel Kettle
As Mel says – it’s way easier to be yourself instead of someone you’re not. Keeping up the pretence, especially in blog form, is unsustainable. And being inauthentic does nothing for growing dedicated fans who trust you.

Our experiments taught us why people troll | The Conversation
The experiments included analyzing 16 million comments made on CNN.com and conducting an online controlled experiment, and the results were varied -and interestingly, people who might not have chosen to troll in the comments section were swayed by existing negative comments, and decided to troll instead. And this has a flow-on effect to other commenters, and subsequent comment threads.
Podcasting is the new blogging | Business News
And how do we all feel about that? What happens to folk who write words and the readers who once read them?

What caught your eye this week?
While it is easier to watch a video than to read a post, I think that reading conveys greater meaning between the writer and the reader. Hopefully people will never stop reading.
I agree, it is easier to watch/listen to a video/audio, while doing something else, rather than reading. Though I never really liked podcasts.
That article about SnapChat was interesting, and after their $30 billion IPO, it should make their investors nervous to read that. Unlike Instagram, it does have more of a “fad” feel to it with not much substance. Anyway, thanks for the reading material!
Now a days peoples are diverting their interest and they are moving towards viewing videos instead of reading articles, but graphics are always on first place so for beating the videos they are making infographics which is giving them a good result, and shareablity also.
I hope in near future we will see peoples reading articles and expressing their emotions.
Hey Stacey,
Amazing roundup! Over the past few years, Snapchat has built their place and changed the field of mobile video with a constant release of new features. But, With Instagram Stories, your viewers only need to following your Instagram account to be notified of your Story.
Instagram’s much broader Search feature makes finding profiles and Stories much easier. Instagram is quickly becoming one of the most powerful social media channels for both individuals and businesses. With Instagram, you can upload high-quality photos and videos, add filters, and spread content. Eventually, thanks for revealing a light on this topic.
With best wishes,
Amar kumar
Hi Stacey,
Another nice and informative roundup. It is true that people are moving to Instagram day by day from Snapchat. The podcast is also new in blogging and it is also going to be popular day by day.
However, Thanks for sharing such an informative post with great links.
With Best Regards,
Salauddin Bepari.
Lots of great posts to look at new trends and what to start focusing on, I love pod casts but not too confident doing this type of blogging
I agree with you. From my point of view Podcasting is going to be the new trend soon. People prefer listening and watching than just reading. And also YouTube videos rate are increasing exponentially so we can assume that in coming years most of the traffic will come to YouTube after Facebook.
Thanks for this roundup post and updating us.
Hello, Stacey!
Moz is always great at providing the technical and action-taking content.
And that one from Moz is most-needed one because of the things coming in from Google this week, right? :)
Great seeing many other blogging related posts made their way into this list!
Thanks for (always) the great work! :)

Whats new in blogging ? My answer is without doubt is Podcasting as jitendra says people prefer listening than reading it.
Seeing lots of probloggers now aiming podcasts as one of their powerful way to expose new things.
Vlogging, not podcasting, is the future. Vlogs are going to be way more popular than they already are in 2017 and beyond. Just my 2 cents.
No Rocket Science hidden here mate. Podcasting is time efficient for readers as well as bloggers. This can be one of the pros of Podcasting. But alone podcasting will not help you out. Experiment on different multimedia and decide what works best in your niche.
Yes. Yes. Yes. To the personalized responses.
And I’ve been trying to force myself to Snapchat, but I just don’t like the platform. IG stories is definitely more sexy and easier, for me, to use. Thankfully, IG stories will forgive me and welcome me back with open arms. :D
