I’ve had a number of readers email me in the last 24 hours to let me know that they’re seeing options to monetize sites using YouTube custom video players with AdSense units in them.
Perhaps this was announced previously without me noticing it – but I can’t find any official announcement of it – but YouTube now have pages that talk of how this is available. Their blurb on it reads:

The screen also has a little screen shot of the ads in action with the ads appearing above the video in a new kind of YouTube Player (pictured above and below).
Like I say – this may have been announced somewhere previously – but it seems to be new and something that only some YouTube account holders are seeing at the moment (I can’t see it as an actual option on my account yet). It’s a little odd because on the page which talks about this it says to click a button to use it – but there’s no button – just a link to AdSense.

I saw this yesterday also but today when I tried to find it again it had disappeared!
I knew they were going to be doing this soon. Weird they have ‘Beta Released’ this though and haven’t made any official announcements about it. I’m not quite sure if it’s a good thing, or a bombardment on our senses with Google Adsense
Awesome! I was waiting for when this would be available. I guess we all knew it was coming.
Some other ad network has something similar, but YouTube will reign supreme.

I don’t think this is available yet. I opened my google adsense and youtube but I cannot find it anywhere. Maybe they were just testing it. I’m excited about it though.

If they require the users to click an ad before they can play the vid then that would be awesome!

This was Google’s plan all along. It is the main reason they bought YouTube, so they could enhance their advertising with videos.
If you have ever tried to use google’s video services you will know why they bought YouTube.
Thats a welcome new, but nothing new in terms of concept, it was in the making.
I see the same page Darren put in the post, without the button to click…but I guess that within a few time this will be available, I’m impatient!

Some of the AdSense units have been showing video for months now, I think it was only the box-shaped units if you don’t have them set to show text only, so maybe they decided to integrate those units with YouTube, now that they just announced rich-media ads? I’m sure we’ll see plenty of mashed up craziness in AdSense units as they test what’s possible.
So, video ads should be shown if you have enabled images and if you have the right ad format( https://www.google.com/adsense/static/fi/AdFormats.html#video ). That’s great.

Oh yeah! I agree! This trend isn`t so nice as some people sometimes say.
I am already using Youtube on a daily basis. Might as well use it now to make money :)

Maybe they are only using those new to Adsense as the beta testers. I can’t wait to test this out, though!
Only found the page after following the link from this Problogger post to the Youtube page, which required me to log on to view it. Otherwise, the page does not show up, or maybe I have not been able to locate it. Hopefully, when there is more understanding about this “new” video feature with adsense, it will be found more easily.
Needless to say, it looks like I will not be using this feature due to restrictions to be in the program or lack of knowledge about where the whole set-up is exactly located on the Website.

This isn’t just about grabbing videos from YouTube and displaying them on your website, and getting relevant ads added. You’re going to have to produce video content that is approved by Google.
This could be great for youtubers who create good content. I imagine there will be filters to stop people from monetising crap videos. (ie obvious ads, spam, hate videos, or just plain rip off merchants)

I think this is a lot better than what Google tried earlier by inserting ads into the content! Atleast now the ads are separate, and I think the best thing to do…
I like the approach which Google uses to monetize products. They keep it free for the users and help the advertisers by bringing better places to display ads… and in the process Google along with publishers make money!! Great going Google!!
It would be great if Google would let users who host their videos to use a special video player that wouldn’t link to YouTube but allow us to display Adsense ads.
I think that it’s how Scanscout works. Now if the big G decides to do that, count me in!
How about thenewsroom.com ? publisher can automaticly set to play the news video ads and embed it to the blog and get paid with CPM based.
I.ve followed the links to my YouTube account page but can’t see any reference to adsense. It all seems a bit vague at the moment. Has anyone found anything more deffinate.

There have even been posts about a need for publishers to use the 300 X 250 rectangle format. But like some of the others all I have seen is adsense documents, nothing from or on youtube.
I’ve seen them a few times, and so far I have to disagree on the “not intrusive” bit. The same stupid ad kept coming up and covering the text of a subtitled video and I had to keep clicking the “x” every 5 or 6 seconds in order to see what was happening.
This sort of thing is better than having to view the ad before the actual clip shows. I think it’s a good move.

I just added it my site, the problem for me is even the smallest video screen is 400px, which means I can only add it to main content and not in my side bar
followed the link and it takes me to my youtube account page.
I had a you tube account and it took me to http://www.youtube.com/my_adsense_players
and from there you customize an adsense player, theme, content and after it gives you the code to embed on your page… well there is where I get stuck, I’m not sure if I embed it into the template or just as a widget.
I appreciate any comments
