Welcome to any Today Show Viewers that are visiting after the interview on this morning’s show.
If this is your first time to ProBlogger.net then let me give you a quick tour of the place. Grab a coffee and make yourself comfortable while I show you around.
Firstly, ProBlogger is a blog that is devoted to helping bloggers earn an income from blogging – here’s a couple of links to give you a little information about me and about this blog.
If you’re new to blogging you might find this ‘what is a blog? post and this one on how bloggers are making money from blogging.
I’ve also recently put together a page with my top 20 posts from the past year.
I’m actually writing this post before the interview so when I get back to the laptop later this morning I’ll update this page with any links that I mentioned in the interview and answer any questions that anyone might have. Feel free to leave a comment or question in the comments section below.
update: Well I’m home again after my first TV appearance – it was fun although a little strange sitting alone in a TV studio talking via sattelite to some unseen person – knowing millions were potentially watching/listening in.
Actually that sounds a lot like blogging – sitting along in front of a computer – writing to some unseen group of people…..
The interview itself was pretty short (about 5 minutes I’d guess). I’m not sure if there is any way to get it up online for overseas readers – but I’ll see what I can do – perhaps some more technically savy reader has the ability to convert it into a web friendly format. update – apparently there is video of the interview on the today show site if you’re willing to download Microsoft Media Player 10.
In terms of the links – Tracy mentioned the Bruce Willis blog (it hasn’t been updated for quite some time) and Barbara Streisand blog. I think that’s the all that was mentioned in terms of celebrity blogs.
Hey Darren,
Congratulations again on your Today Show interview… just got up early to watch you, and you didn’t seem under-caffeinated at all – you had your coffee right?
You may well be the most well-known blogger in this country! And the best paid!
(And don’t forget to post a link to Bruce Willis’ blog, I thought I saw something on there I might like to read ;-) )
Darren,
Kudos to your TV appearance. Blogging is going mainstream and your leading your entire hemisphere in the right directions.
Really enjoyed the show. Nice one.
[…] Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.net was on TV now he can finally talk about something besides Chitika. […]
Well done, Darren. You presented very well and spoke intelligently. You are an excellent spokesman for us all. I wouldn’t be surprised if you found yourself working in the traditional media one day – maybe your own segment on the Today Show.
And to all those new to blogging reading this, you’ll find many, many sites out there that promise the secrets of blogging success, Adsense success etc but… you have to pay. There are other sites with tips and advice but there’d be few that could compare with Darren’s success and the comprehensive of this, his ProBlogger site. ProBlogger is one of the best blogging resources on the ‘net. Plus it draws bloggers from around the world who add their own experiences to further enrich the site.
Thanks again, Darren.
W00t! You da man!
Congrats, Darren…I wish I could have seen this up here in the States!
You certainly deserve the recognition…
Cheers, Mate!
So, is there going to be a downloadable segment that the folk on this side of the pond will be able to watch?
you know what Darren? you seem to be everywhere. I mean E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E… i happened to be doing a search on google for “make money online” and youre there on number 1 spot…amazing… i guess you’ve got it all covered…
Oh well, i guess its one thing to be hardworking… and another to be damn darn smart (marketing wise). Youre a combination of both. Salute!
Well done Darren – it’s not easy sitting in front of a television camera and being interviewed – even about something that you love – and especially not in such a short time – but you spoke clearly and I’m sure that even more people are going to be interested in blogging.
I ditto what Blaine said- any way for people who don’t live in Australia to see the clip?
Good job Darren,
You communicated and presented well – sounded like a seasoned television professional. Obviously (I knew this would come up) you had to field the normal teenage/diary type impressions of blogging.
Loved the full screen shot of your blog as they were going to break before your interview.
Just one thing …. that shirt ! ;-)
Martin – you noticed the shirt – I noticed the hair :)
I also thought that they were on a bit of a slow Internet connection – some of those blogs didn’t load all that fast.
what’s wrong with my shirt? :-) It’s actually new!
The hair isn’t…..
pity they were not able to put a bit of dulling make up on my shiny noggin!
Yeah, Bruce Willis’ blog took forever…
problogger.net looked good though, and chitika should be happy with the exposure the referral banner at the top of page got! ;-)
You should have worn one of your Problogger t-shirts, maybe a cap with your url printed on it – now that would have been some guerrilla marketing and solved the shiny reflection :-)
When Tracy (the host) asked you about how you make money with blogs you could have said something like “at my blog https://problogger.com I discuss a myriad of ways bloggers are making money” and then gone on with the AdSense talk.
Gotta be a shameless promoter sometimes ;-)
In case you’re looking for the link? it helps if you just go to this URL and in the search field enter “blogging” …

Very well done! And Very well said. I guess I didn’t notice the hair or the shirt, but I did notice the accent. I’m in the USA. :)
“The hair isn’t…..”
exactly ;)
I enjoyed the interview. Well done, Darren!
Oh, right, Miles, I noticed the accent too. (I’m in Russia :-))
Chen said: “you know what Darren? you seem to be everywhere. I mean E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E… i happened to be doing a search on google…”
Aint that the truth!!!! I searched last week for “Who came last in the Melbourne Cup” (it’s a horse race we Aussies get excited about on the first Tuesday of November). And guess what site came up #1?!!! Yep – one of Darren’s! (Tho it has drifted out to #10 this week). I guess that’s the power of a good page mojo
ooops! I entered that wrong in Google! lol. He’s only drifted out to #2.
As Chen said E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E
a search for darren rowse gets ya 37000 results
Darren,
I enjoyed watching your interview.
I especially liked the part where you emphasised the need for original copy along with reminding people that copyright applies to content that appears on blogs the same as it does with other content.
Oh and…. “and pay no attention to Stuart and Martin – you really did well” :)
Hey Darren,
Liked the interview, and the shirt.
Well done mate.
Well done, Darren!
rediculous site. says I need flash player, IE 6 and WMP 10. I have all three but it still won’t let me watch the video
[…] Duncan Riley> Darren Rowse from Problogger.net appeared on the Today Show here in Australia this morning, and whilst Darren did an excellent job in talking about blogs I couldn’t help but cringe, not because of Darren’s performance, but because I wanted to smack Tracy Grimshaw in the face every time she opened her mouth. According to Grimshaw, blogs are “online diaries”, “online journals” and for memory the words above the dual picture box which showed Darren and Grimshaw side by side read “INTERNET DIARY” in capitals as well. Darrens captions weren’t to bad however, Darren was labelled as a “Blogging Expert” and the follow up lower byline read “BLOGGING POWER”. Darren was then compared to Bruce Willis and Barbara Streisand, so he was in celebrity company, although I’d think that emphasising celebrity blogs demeans blogging in that the blogosphere is meant to be about everyone, not just celebrities. Oh well….given the ratings of the Today show this year I’d be surprised if they’ll be back next year, and now I can flick back to GWN to watch Koshie and Mel on Sunrise […]
Looked great on tv. Couldn’t tell that it was so early in the morning. You handled yourself with great poise and was very articulate.
Just watched it.
The shiny head was a bit distracting, but other than that it was good.
Adding my Congrats!
