It’s Day 15 of the 31 Days to building a better blog project and after a very quiet day with only one submission yesterday today I’ve got a treat for you with a variety of submissions from readers – in fact today we have 9 submissions – a record day! Here they are:
- Kurt has a post with 7 Mistakes for your First Week Blogging
- Michael has answered one of the questions submitted by a reader with his submission – How to start a new Blog
- Craig also has a post on Setting up a Blog which will be good for Pre-Bloggers
- Miha has posted one titled Make Feedburner Work for You
- PC Doctor submits a blog tip titled Vary your content!
- Synastry has a post on Thick and Thin Clients

I posted an article addressing the earlier question of blogs and CMS here:

Hope it helps.
Thanks for including my post! At the end of it is an invitation for people to add their own ideas. More heads are better than one, as Darren is showing with his “31 Days” gig.
Ack! I can’t access comments for the newer post, “Wednesdays – Most popular day of the week to surf the web surf the web”. It comes up with a big blank spot.
Is it just me? (She asked, somewhat nervous and paranoid LOL)
I am surprised by those results, as my auction tip newsletter tells us to end our auctions on a Sunday for the best results, as Sunday is the biggest online auction sale day. I have experienced this myself, as items ending on Sunday usually do better.
On a happier note, I was able to insert Google Ad Sense just above my posts at Blogger, by modifying the template to insert the script inside the “content”, just above the newest post. I used a “color palette” with background and border matching the background of the content area, so it blends nicely, and is in one of the Google Optimization “hot spots”. We’ll see how it does.
Regarding using hosted space, I am on Blogger and when I check search engines for my blog name, I find more than fifty references, so I’m not sure paid hosting/own domain name makes a huge difference.
Maybe that’s just me. (She said, looking nervous again LOL)
Thank you so much for all of the great tips!
I can’t post comments on that weekday stats post.
Actually, it exactly mirrors my stats. I have very high hits on Weds. Weekends are quiet.
That doesn’t quite mirror my stats… but then, I just got listed by digg.com Sunday night, so I went from an average of 30 uniques a day to 5,000 in less than 24 hours. Maybe when things calm down I’ll have a better picture.
not sure what the problem was/is with the weekday comments – is it working for people now? I just reformatted the post – i can see comments…..
