31 Days to Build a Better Blog – Delayed 1 Week

Posted By Darren Rowse 31st of March 2009 ProBlogger Site News 0 Comments

This is just a short post to let those waiting for the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog project to start tomorrow that I’ve had to delay it until next week.

This isn’t an April Fools prank (beware, some bloggers have started theirs early this year) but a genuine thing that has been the result in a number of unforeseen circumstances.

I probably could have launched it tomorrow but it wouldn’t have been at the standard I wanted to achieve. I’d rather launch it well late than poorly on time. My sincere apologies to those who this is inconvenient for!

While it doesn’t have the same ring to it as 1 April the new start date is 6 April (next Monday) and it’ll run through until early May (yes it’s still 31 days long).

I’ve emailed those who have registered for the challenge to let them know but wanted to spread the news here just in case any missed it.

PS: if you’re still not signed up you can read about and join the challenge here. We’ve now had over 6700 bloggers register so despite the delay it’s going to be an amazing journey of learning together.

  1. Are you just launching it late to boost sign ups? Lol , JK man. Looking forward.

  2. “I’ve had to delay it until next day.” – Week?

Thanks for running it by the way. Really excited. ^^

  3. I was kinda disapointed when I read your tweet about the delay, since I’m all hyped up, not able to wait to start. I was afraid that my enthusiasm would drop over the course of the next 6 days. But after reading your mail, I am happy to start preparing.

Again, thanks for this opportunity Darren.

  4. Hi Darren,

Thanks for the heads up. It actually suits me quite well to be honest, as it gives me some extra time to get my affairs in order so I can dedicate myself properly to this.

I am posting about the challenge on my site to hopefully generate a little awareness for you and maybe even attract a blogging buddy or two!! Nothing like a little friendly competition to keep me motivated.

So if you (not Darren) might want a partner in this, drop me a line or leave a comment on my post.

  5. There must be a reason, maybe something in his personal life came up. Be assured that it will be a great run.

  6. Hi Darren,

Sorry to hear about the delay, I’m sure that many will be sad to hear so.

Personally, it’s a good thing for me, as I’m quite busy this week and starting a challenge on a Monday is a great way to kickstart my week.

    Looking forward to it!

  7. I’m sure people will complain, but I think it’s better to put out something you’ll be much happier with. And like Mike, this works better for me anyway since I’ll have a chance to properly prepare and make some space on my calendar.

So don’t second-guess. We’re quite willing to wait, and now it will really be what you want. Cheers!

  8. Aw. Its too bad that I have been away from the blogosphere for a while. I can’t participate in this challenge for now. But I’d like to see how it goes. Maybe I can learn a thing or two.

  9. We can wait another week for this
Seeing as you ar going to have this going as an email subscription thing for years to come you may as well do it right first go

  10. It’s okay, we can wait for a few more days.

  11. It’s okay, we can wait for a few more days. I understand because there are some things that slow down the launching.

  12. I’d rather wait and have thing be the way you want them to be, than to rush things. I’m looking forward to getting started and will be just as excited on 6 April then on 1 April.

  13. Seems that we gonna wait for another 1 week. No problem Darren! I’m looking forward to these..:)

  25. A few more days don’t hurt anyone.

  26. Darren, of course its okay. I didn’t get an email, though. I hope I’m still signed up. I did get a confirmation back when I signed up. Could you let me know if I’m still signed up? I’d like to take part in the forums, etc.

  27. Darren, could you please provide a link to the previous similar Blog Projects you’ve hosted in 2005 and 2007, as you mentioned in your last post. Just as an insight of what to expect tomorrow.

  28. That’s great. I just saw this post today even though I subscribe to your email RSS and receives it daily.

Thank you for the delay. At least it gives me time to prepare!!

I hope to get my Social Network tutorials out within that 31 days..

  29. No problem, we can wait.. just take your time Darren.

  30. Too bad Darren! No problem anyways… I know the outcome will be aewsome.

Darren, by the way… I did not receive that email you said although I’ve registered and received your welcome note… Just a heads up in case something is not working as expected. have a good… night I guess. it’s still morning in Canada.

  31. Darren, we are truly thankful to you for taking the pains. We can surely wait, nobody does this for free. And thats the reason why problogger.net is by far the best site for bloggers.

  32. No problem Darren!

I’m really looking forward to it. :)

  33. Darren,
Thanks for offering this. I’m glad for the delay as this weekend I am migrating my blog from blogspot to a self hosted wordpress (http://themommaven.com). God willing I will be up and running on my new home in time for Monday’s start date! Yay!

  34. I am in this challenge really for the Journey of learning along with others. I always found these kind of workshops or challenges started with external guidance (rather than self) will have great impact on our learning.

I won’t mind the delay for the challenge. I was just wishing it to start from Monday. Glad you are doing that :)

  35. Looking forward to the opportunity to learn something new and continue improving our blog presence. Thank you!

  36. This actually worked out better for me. This is going to be a hectic week & I had a few things to complete on my other projects, so I

  37. …so I can devote the time to this project. Sorry about the comment break. My toddler decided to submit it, lol.

I registered for this a long time ago, but never got the email stating it was delayed. Why not? No, it’s not in spam.

  39. I signed up but did nto get email notice of delay – found out from your blog, so since I did not get email wondering if I am signed up. daniela at bellasignature dot com ?

  40. Shirley says: 04/02/2009 at 9:39 am

I signed up also but didn’t get email notice of delay. Found out by coming to your blog. I did get email confirmation when I signed up, though.
    Can’t wait!

  41. I registered a few days ago but didn’t get the email it was delayed. I see others are in the same boat, but I just wanted to make sure that I’m registered…but not sure how I could confirm that. I did get a confirmation email when I registered, but I certainly don’t want to miss anything! :-)

  42. So that’s why i didn’t get any posts sent to my email… ;)

  43. I wondered what happened, as I did not get an email on it so came to see if I was missing out on lesson 1.

  44. I was looking for lesson 1 in my inbox and started to check here to see if missed it. I didn’t receive your email about the delay, so I’m hoping I’m still on the mailing list.

    Looking forward to next week.

I did not get that e-mail telling about the delay. Hopefully I am on the list. I was waiting April 1st like it was xmas, but I guess I have to wait some more. I am all ready and fired up. Let’s start already!

  46. I didn’t received an email about the delay.

    Have to check my subscription!

  47. Daren,
I signed up for the 31 days and got a confirmation email. I have, however, not received anymore emails, including todays. Can someone check so I get the dailys?

  48. Thanks for the heads up.
