  1. Someone could explain to me why a post like this is ethical and something like this (using ReviewMe) wouldn’t be?

Are some people too stuck up, or are we all sinners?

Antony of NamesAtWork decided that users of ReviewMe were whores.

    I think it’s rather insulting. :)

  2. I think they’re both okay, really. I actually wanted to know what those sponsors were. They expect people to click on them but who knows what they’re about. Those little boxes don’t provide much info.

  3. Hi Darren, Linda with 5 Star here. You have to be the best blogger, when it comes to giving thanks and recognizing others. Of course, I think you are just one of the best bloggers period… that’s why I advertise here. :-)

  4. I think the difference is – companies here paid for a service (space rental) and the blog owner thanked them afterwards.

In other examples .. the blog owner provided the service (review) and then got paid by the company afterwards.

i.m.o. // if that makes sense.

  5. I think it’s great that these folks are advertising their services through ProBlogger. It’s way to directly promote the good stuff Darren brings to the blogging community. I like that ProBlogger works with solid services too. Thanks Darren, you always help me to know which folks to work with for my own blogs.

  6. I have much more respect for those who are prepared to state quite clearly that they are being paid for their posts than those who trade on their credibility by writing glowing testimonials, that may or may not include hidden affiliate links, about rubbish and don’t disclose their involvement in the deal.

Yet another copywriter’s blog got dumped from my reader yesterday for that.

Credibility is a high-value commodity whether you sell it for $10.00 or $10,000 you’re still ultimately giving it away.

  7. On reflection some people may think that what I just said in my comment above was in some way aimed at Darren. I just want to make it clear that I don’t see Darren as having any credibility problem at all – when he recommends something that he stands to make a profit from he lets everyone know it’s an affiliate link.

    Unfortunately some others do not.

  8. Hello Darren

    I am Romasha from cyn.in.

I think you are a very dedicated blogger and problogger.net rocks!! Your blog is a great source of motivation for many.

    Keep up the great blogging!

    Regards,
    Romasha
