Reading Roundup: What's new in blogging this week / ProBlogger.net

What a week! There’s still Snapchat v Instagram chat, Facebook adblocking, a nipple on Reddit (that’s a long story) and non-disclosure among some online influencers – everyone had an opinion, it seems!

Here’s How to Use Your Daily Habits for Writing Better Content in Less Time | Moz

I love this: we all want to write better content, in the shortest amount of time possible, and using what we already have/habits we already have/things we already do. They make it sound so eaaaaaaasy.

This is for all y’all who are confused about what Facebook’s doing with ads and what Adblocker’s doing in revenge. Although it will probably have changed by the time you read this. But it affects posts by pages and friends… so that’s you!

Social Media Stars Warned over Undeclared Paid-For Ads | BBC

This is a bugbear for many – nondisclosure when it comes to promoting brands online. Not everyone is transparent, and the waters can get super-murky. There have been issues in different countries where the rules (or lack thereof) are different – but it appears influencers who don’t disclose perhaps won’t be able to do that forever.

Facebook is Deleting Popular Meme Pages Without Warning | The Daily Dot

As I learned the hard way when I was tagged in the comments on a viral video, but then couldn’t find said video. Seems there’s a crackdown and there’s no recourse if you’re a meme page owner. It also affects you if you’re using memes or sharing them from these pages – you might find suddenly you don’t have the content you thought you did!

  1. one of the best website in world , clean and pro layout, best of the best, i like it, which theme you are using ? great content too. thanks

  2. Facebook’s new algorithm for blocking ad blockers was definitely big news. I read it on a couple of channels where publishers were profusely thanking them for the changes. However 48 hours into it and Ad Block plus came up with an update to block ads.. yet again. Personally, I feel that its never going to stop. It will be a give and take game.

  3. Google loves fresh content, true. A site that came with lot of fresh contents everyday valued higher than other, e.g: news site. So if you want to drive and maintain traffic to your blog, style your blog as news and update it daily.
Ah, it won’t happen to me, the lazy blogger. #sad

  4. Hi Stacey,

I enjoyed reading the Entrepreneur article on branding. Super helpful, jam-packed with actionable tips.

I intend to improve in this area with more consistency from Twitter to Facebook to G Plus to LinkedIn to my blog. Bringing ’em all together creates a more seamless, powerful, clear experience for our community.

I also read the Kissmetrics post while reading the rounds and doubled down on my blog design. Instead of adding stuff I deleted a slew of posts, videos and blog bloat that slowed things down for mobile users, which make up some 30 plus percent of my readers.

During a recent overhaul of my blog design when working thru a few bugs I received instant responses from mobile users about readability issues. Within minutes of emailing my newsletter the iPhone and iPad and Smart Phone users alerted me, so we fixed the bugs and I deleted many old, non-aligned posts and other stuff on my blog to speed up their experience even more.

Gotta make things easy for readers to stick around, right?

Thanks for the comprehensive round up Stacey.

    Ryan

    • Ah Ryan, you’re always on top of it! I’m in awe of your productivity, haha.

The Entrepreneur article was one of my favourites – I’ve bookmarked it so I can keep coming back. Often when I help people with their own online branding I wish there was something like this to point them to! Now I can.

  5. Yes. you are right, in order for the website was at the top of the issue, you need to constantly post quality and unique content. if blogger don’t have the time, then it is permissible to buy it. Importantly, the text was not only unique but also interesting for visitors.
