How to Decide When to Give Up On Your Blog, Business, or Project

This is the third podcast in a miniseries about what you need to do to find success as a blogger on online entrepreneur. The first episode was about the importance of establishing the habit of starting new things, instead of just coming up with great ideas and thinking about them. The second episode was about the importance of persisting.

Today’s episode is about how to decide whether now is the time to quit your blog, business or project. There is definitely a time to quit a project; it’s a part of life. But timing your quitting can be important! I share my own personal experience, as well as questions you can ask yourself to work out what is right for you. Stop! by Niklas Kreuzer on

  • Thanks Darren, for this great podcast! As always, so many great tips. Love the idea of pivoting – I think pivoting is essential if you want to keep going in business.

  • Thanks so much for the mention Darren, that was a surprise! You nailed exactly what my thoughts were at the time of pivoting and it was one of the best things I ever did. I remember some posts flowed and others were like pulling teeth, and the bonus of me finding that the the posts that “resonated” were the visual social media posts was that it totally fuelled my love of creative while still being about my interest in marketing. Thanks for the advice on that back in Melbourne at PB Event… your tip to follow the sparks (what my audience enjoyed and responded to and what I enjoyed writing) was the first time anyone had added the “why” to what I had started to do without paying too much attention to it, and I am surprised you didn’t hear me from the back of the room saying “OMG”. haha. And I LOVE Buffer – their pivot story is amazing and I loved their blog post about it a few years ago. They are a content marketing success story.

  • great podcast

  • Great podcast! Feels like I stumbled upon the right advice as I was about to quit. The ability to persist and also change direction – a bit of a paradox as you rightly mentioned. Would like to add one to the inspirational quotes on persistence – “Be stubborn about your goals, and flexible about your methods”

    Thanks! Darren. Inspiring as always!
