Performancing Metrics – Statistics Package for Bloggers

Nick Wilson over at Performancing has just announced the coming of a new ‘metrics’ tool which they have been alpha testing over the past few months.

I’ve been lucky enough to be one of the alpha testers of it and while I don’t think I’m allowed to say too much about the details of what it can do I will say that it is VERY good.

I need to clarify with Nick what I can and cannot say about it – but will say it is a statistics package that is specifically designed with blogs and bloggers in mind and that (as Nick says in a comment on his post) can partially track AdSense performance.

I’m looking forward to sharing more about it in the coming weeks as it goes towards a public beta.

  1. To plug our own service, but we can track AdSense clicks pretty well. We don’t show it publicly in the demo, but we track link title, link origin, advertiser link, unique # of clicks, and total # of clicks. Further breakdown on an advertiser link gives you a daily breakdown with the # of clicks per format, the channels used, the # of clicks per page, and then again uniques and total clicks.

  2. Sounds very interesting. I can’t wait to try out Performancing Metrics. I have one question though. Does “next week” mean the beginning or the end of next week? Lol I’m so impatient.

  3. Any idea how much this will cost?

  4. cool AhmedF – will check it out.

Vlad – not sure on that one. I’m just a tester.

Tom – I don’t have any official word on this but I suspect that cost won’t be an issue :-)

  5. Coming Soon: Performancing Blog Statistics Service

The word is out today that Nick Wilson and his Performancing crew are preparing a new "world beating" blog statistics service called Performancing Metrics.  This upcoming blog metrics service for professional bloggers is slated for a pub…

  6. Darren – How does it compare to Mint (and the multitude of peppers)?

  7. I’ve never used Mint – but what I know of it is that it’s beautiful and has a good range of stats. Performancing’s efforts might not be quite as nice to look at but I’ve found them very useful.

Have just written a review of it – but am not sure I’m allowed to publish it yet as part of my agreement to be an alpha tester – will have to wait til Nick wakes up :-)

  8. Just to add to Darren, I was also an Alpha tester and the service is first rate, updated stats once an hour and very, very blog related stats. Not sure I can say much more than this, but once it is open I’m happy to recommend it, again, because Nick and the team have sat down and talked to bloggers about the sort of stats they want, where as services such as Sitemeter or Google Analytics have their flaws.

  9. Darren,

I have been an avid user of this service since a few days after it released (so roughly a few weeks.) I absolutely fell in love with the features. I have not yet been fortunate enough to try Google Analytics, but I cannot imagine that it was more feature rich than Performancing Metrics. The ability to see the rankings of individual posts gave me incredible insight as to which topics were most popular. This is something that SiteMeter does give, but not nearly in the same manner. I was also very intrigued by the Adsense integration, as well as the clean look of the graphs and statistic pages.

My affair with Performancing Metrics, though, has become marred with technical difficulties. At one point their server stopped collecting statistics, but it turned out that it was just a simple reporting error. That was not all. This week, my two blogs completely disappeared from their system. How this happened, no one knows. Sadly it is causing me to lose valuable stats about my readership.

But despite the technical shortfalls, that actually could be expected from a new service such as this, their interface and the concept by which they deliver stats are absolutely amazing. As a blogger, I can see how a service like this has the potential to set itself apart from your average Stat tracker service. I would recommend it to any serious blogger, but expect a few bumps in the road. The best part is that everyone at Performancing is truly dedicated to fixing the bugs, and they love feedback. Although at some point they may become tired of hearing from me…

    Cheers.
