I’m literally heading out the door to speak at an event here in Melbourne but before I do I wanted to let you know about a great free report written by CopyBlogger’s Brian Clark and two great conversations with amazing entrepreneurs Jason Fried (37 signals) and Steven Pressfield.
This is great content and it’s part of a new project that Brian’s putting together called Lateral Action.
Here’s what you get:
- A recorded conversation (with edited transcript) between poet/entrepreneur Mark McGuinness and bestselling novelist and historian Steven Pressfield, about the true art of entrepreneurship.
- A recorded conversation (with edited transcript) between writer/entrepreneur Brian Clark (hey, that’s me!) and 37signals founder Jason Fried, about building businesses that produce not just remarkable profits, but remarkable lives.
- A 31-page PDF report from me called The Lateral Action Guide to Starting a Smart Business.
The recordings are a really insightful glimpse into the minds of two very smart people, but the report – as is usual with Brian’s stuff – is really excellent if you’re thinking through starting a business (or rethinking an existing one).
To get all three just visit Lateral Action and add your email address to get immediate access.
Update: the Lateral Action Course is now up and running – learn more about it here.
Sounds really interesting. I’ll bite! I like the focus on more than just making money.
This will help a lot, as we can hop on the experiences of a great entrepreneur like Jason Fried (37Signals).
Thanks Darren for sharing this. I will check it out since my work is all about helping people live fullfilling lives. The best of success to you at your speaking event. Personally, it is always a wonderful experience for me to be asked to speak. I still get a positive rush from doing it.

It sound very interesting indeed, especially because this is a great way to get to learn and find out things directly from the experience of successful entrepreneurs.
Steven Pressfield, as in The last of the Amazons? I am not usually interested but if it’s the same guy, I love his books :)
Now that is lateral thinking in action, I am signing up because of an author and not the other connections.
Any chance someone could interview F Paul Wilson and ask where we are with Repairman Jack? I’d sign up for that one too…
Hi Darren,
Thanks so much for this post. I just added my email list to Brian’s site. Looking forward to digging into this material. Hope the talk in Melbourne goes well!

Cool Stuff!… I started my site in 2008 and it’s only now the snow ball has started rolling. That’s the best part of a “dotcom” it never seems to slow down with traffic and sales once your foundation is built!…
