The gang over at Carsonified has released the following video this week by Kevin Rose talking about taking a web app from 1 to 1 million users.
While the video talks more about web applications and not specifically about blogging – some of the principles that Kevin talks about I think are applicable to blogging.

One of the best videos i have seen. Very good practicla advice. Thanks for sharing this :)
Thanks for sharing sir.
Downloading the video to watch it all over again…
Thanks for good video. It very useful for bloggers anyway.
I can’t wait to get over a hundred and then a thousand first!
Hi there,
Kevin Rose is innovative geek.
His foundation is much stronger than other.
This video is really helpful to me for inspiration.
Man, this looks like a great video!
Too bad my headphones are no longer working :( I’ll have to go get some new ones to watch this.
I’m halfway through this, but I’m going to have to go back through it and take notes 2d time around.
Highly applicable to a startup I’m helping get started.
Well, web apps may not be my thing but the advice to “Attend events you can’t afford,” bears listening to. Maybe BlogHer. Or since I live right here in Austin, something at SXSW, blogging related.
The first point he makes about giving people a reward. Is there a plugin of some sort in WordPress to give people that comment very often a certain status? Like you see on many forums? I think this might stimulate comment-count and also the number of returning readers.
A good video..
It shows us the tips on web apps
Interesting… yeah, I heard about this video before. When I have the time, I’ll have to check it out! :) Thanks for sharing.
Yes, Good to gain the information, but things are more tough than they are shown.
There are some great ideas in there, and a couple I’ve not seen elsewhere. Very useful.
That was very good video. You can really take somethings he said and put it towards your blog. Greg Ellison
His first point I think is the most useful one – you have to stroke the ego to get participation. Actually, Darren, I was just reading the part in your book (with Chris Garrett) about “people wanting to belong”. Stroking the ego means that you develop a “connection”.
Now that was really helpful. A nice video.
Well, Your almost all posts are very helpful for us. I think you are the first i see on the net that share his real and dynamic ideas so other people get help from these posts. I really a big fan of you and your posts … Thanks a lot
That was a great talk. There were plenty of great of tips and points that could be translatable blogging.
I would’ve like to have seen how (if) any of those may have been applied to ProBlogger.
Thanks for reading and visiting. I respect your time and appreciate your comments. I appreciate this and look further with this article..
Thanks for sharing this article and it’s really useful for every blogger and after reading this, I will definately try to implement on this…..
I learned a couple of things from Kevin. I need to get more into social media.
Lot of tech stuff, but it’s ok. No overbuild is an excellent advice that can be taken for any piece of marketing (thinkg Google)
Franck
Thanks . Its really good.
I wish I could do this, anyways learned few things from Kevin..
thanks a lot.
I have always had issues gaining more readers so this has been helpful
Clicked on video and waiting for downloan full than I will play it. Seems to me that this one will be nice and learning video.
Great Post.Thanks for this
The information in this video is excellent. Anyone who can build such a massively popular site like Digg without using any traditional means of online marketing definitely knows what he’s talking about.
Some logics are very helpful for bloggers, Great video, thanks
Thanks for sharing,a really helpful video
Yea. Appreciate the article and video post. Kevin is a great source of info. Thanks for taking the time to post
Great video, Kevin rose is a true marketing guru!
Great Information here at problogger! I didn’t realize all of the helpful information out here on blogging and seo. Thanks again!
Excellent talk and well worth watching. Does anyone know if the sildes are online?
I think my favorite comment was the “hack the press” section. He mentioned it’s often easier to get in contact with the most junior bloggers/writers for big sites (like TechCrunch or Engadget). Another point that goes along with that is contacting the “long tail” of bloggers – a lot of little bloggers can sometimes be worth as much as one big blogger.
Thanks for this video.
Lots of interesting ideas.
Thank you very much for this video. I do think there is a great deal of useful information in this video that Kevin Rose gives that can be used for blogging. I’m going to run back through the video again and take notes as well.
Thanks Again for another valuable post.
Well said, great video my latest site is gona work hard on getting readers with quality content and the tools you laid out thanks http://911-fitness.com/
This was a wonderful post. I took notes and learned a heck of a lot! ;)
Kevin has done it again. Lots of useful tips for any web app and you’re right, some can be purposed toward blogs as well.
I find that his point of keeping things simple is key right now. Many companies are updating their sites to increase usability and improve load times. Features are great but so many of them are released without adding much value to the majority of users.
Thanks for the video and for weaving together the aspects of web apps, seo practices, and ego-stroking pages. You have managed to do all that and still remember how simplicity fits in to a reader experience which may turn sticky. Sticky is good.
Wow…this is a great video. Its very informative and i dont mind even downloading it and sharing with others :)
Interesting video… Thanks for sharing.
I definetely need to come up with social networking. I believe many successful bloggers do it.
I found that you can also apply these rules to writing an article or persuasion page. You want to immediately enhance the ego of the reader to keep them interested in online content.
But that’s way too logical.I was not really thinking. I’ve been up since really early and I went to bed later than I like to. It doesn’t matter at this point since I can’t take it back.
That was amazing. Thanks for that.
Hi Darren, Quite an impressive video that you shared with us. To grow is all about sharing the right information to the write audience. I have a dream to increase my users from currently 8000 a month to 1 million by 6 months. I think this is possible and I also know that I have to put a lot of effort and work into this.
Thanks once again for the video link.
Jay
This would definitely very useful for us bloggers. Will check it out thoroughly when am back, thanks for the video anyway! :-)
I can only hope to have that many visit my site. I will try to implement these suggestions thanks.
