Got a Question? Want to Connect?

Posted By Darren Rowse 28th of May 2009 ProBlogger Site News 0 Comments

Two quick notes for ProBlogger readers of a ‘social persuasion’:

1. Got a Question? Ask it on Twitter – if you have a question that you’d like me to answer as a post on ProBlogger please feel free to ask it on Twitter with the hashtag of #pbquestions. I can’t do them all but am using it as a way to collect topics that you’re interested in. If we’re not already connected on Twitter follow me at @problogger.

2. Connect on Facebook – As Facebook limit ‘friend numbers’ to 5000 I’ve started a ‘fan page‘ for those who’d like to connect with me on that social network. I’ll be monitoring facebook more than I previously have so if it’s your preferred social network I’d love to connect with you there.

PS: while we’re talking social media – if your preferred network is LinkedIn or FriendFeed I also have accounts there where I’m happy to connect (although at this point I’m not quite as active there). The other place I have a presence is YouTube – subscribe to my channel there and you’ll get an advanced warning of new videos before they hit the blog here.

  1. Oh… that will be great way to connect with you, just a quick question, may I ask how to create and use facebook groups effectively to not just increased your website traffic but also your customer base, think I haven heard of anyone talking about the strategies and tips to implanting facebook group as one of the traffic and conversion source, may be you write about it…..

    Thanks

  2. Hi Darren,

the fan page is a great idea. so there is no limit to the number of fans, even though there is a limit to regular facebook friends?

I love the idea of asking questions on twitter with a hashtag. I’ll have to remember that for when I too have 100K followers. hee hee
    Talk to you soon!

@swimturtle, If I’m not mistaken, becoming a “fan” of something on facebook is roughly equivalent to “like” -ing something, so there is no limit.

  4. I can’t wait to start using hashtag on twitter, even though I have a page on facebook I rarely use it.

Now YouTube, I like spoilers ;)

  5. I actually had a question for you yesterday but I couldn’t phrase it in less than 140 characters. I got my answer anyway so it’s all good.

It’s also nice to see that you actually care about your followers/friends.

  6. Darren, this is a great idea for building more traffic to your niche. Be the go to guy and be easy to get in touch with. Can’t wait to see how it works for you.

  7. I am connected to Darren on Twitter, but the hash is new! Also, I will be sure to subscribe to your channel on youtube.

    Great idea for staying connected!

  8. Thanks for the contacts Darren.

  9. You’re flooded with bunch of messages on twitter…

  10. Consider me “connected”..

  11. Tiwitter sounds like very hot lately. I really need to put it up on my blog

Watch this stock trader fail or succeed

  12. I don’t use Facebook but I’ll certainly follow you on Twitter and ask some questions.

  13. I have seen a lot of posts lately which were answers to questions on twitter. Thanks for the intimation!

  14. Hello Problogger!
Uuummm, now I’m thinking about getting the .net version also. You made a great point…I don’t want anyone stealing my name :)

I also have profiles on LinkedIn and FriendFeed, but I don’t use them very often. My secret is to use ping.fm for the important messages I want to send out so it posts at the same time in my FB, Twitter, Linkedin and FriendFeed. Magic happens by pressing just one button!

  15. Do you follow back on twitter, so we can DM you? I’m @serene_balance, in case you do.

    =-)

  16. Wooooow here goes the question answer round, lots to ask, but I doubt you would get time to answer them all.

  17. I think you’ve answered every question we have as a blogger but yeah, you’ll never know!

How about how can you possibly follow that many followers’ twitters lol

  18. That’s great, you’ll probably get a ton of questions!

  19. this will make you busy till the end of next week :)

  20. Hi Darren

Great – maybe this will be nudge to get me to understand Twitter.

  21. Nice to know Darren. Are you cheking your emails sent from the contact form recently?

    Hi!

I’m a follower of your blogging tips. I wish to thank you for the many insights I got from your newsletter. However, I have yet to implement the things I learned. I cannot focus on my desire to put up a blog due to the demands of my day job. But I’m really looking forward to be working from home and one of the avenues I’m considering is online business.

Thank you once again for sharing your ideas.

  23. Darren, hope you don’t mind me asking this here (think my question is a bit long for Twitter) – but I was wondering how you feel about sites that seek to (re)publish whole blog posts (mine) on their site, without directly linking to the post (the link to my blog is on my profile near the post).

I’ve already authorized a citizen’s media site (agoravox.com) to do that, and there’s another one hovering, but I’m unsure of the benefits. Agoravox doesn’t seem to be generating much traffic for me, so I’m wondering if I’m just giving away my content for free without any substantial returns.

    Any thoughts?

  24. Hi Darren

  28. This is such a nice idea. I am a big reader of Problogger and knowing that you could actually connect with its author is really wonderful!

    Thanks and more power!

  29. I haven’t actually checked out “Friend Feed” yet, i’ll do it later today. So far, i’ve used twitter and facebook and several smaller ones. I DO know that social media is extremely important in connecting and communicating with the people that actually care about what you have to say. It’s a great way to make people more interested in you website.
