Today there was a little excitement in the Rowse House.
On returning from a morning out there was a parcel sitting on our doorstep. On opening it I found:
It’s been fun to watch many of you ordering, receiving and even reviewing the ProBlogger book – but it’s a very strange feeling to hold it in your hands after all this time of working on it.
While blogging and authoring a book have some pretty similar tasks involved in putting them together – a blog is a fairly intangible thing while our little book is… well it’s something that I can hold. I also think it’s probably going to be useful in explaining what I do to friends and family who don’t quite get it.
While I’m on the topic of the book – thanks to those who’ve been reviewing it. If you have the book I’d love to hear your thoughts on it – whether it be as a review on your blog, a review on the Amazon page for it (there’s a few up already) or just a comment below. You might just find your review quoted on the book’s home page if you review it!
update – last night was a surreal experience. My wife went to bed at 10pm as she usually does. Two hours later I went to bed expecting to find her asleep and there she was with a cup of tea reading the book! I wish I’d had my camera with me at that moment!
For those who know ‘V’ (my wife) you’ll know that she’s not really into blogging – she doesn’t read my blogs at all (apart from when I’m traveling to catch up on what I’m doing and to show my son ‘Daddy’ on my latest video). So to see her reading my book was pretty funny.
What surprised me was that she told me that after reading 4 chapters she thought she now ‘got’ blogging. Yep – after all these years of me trying to explain what I do to her I had to write a book so she’d get it!
If that doesn’t convince you to buy it – I don’t know what will!
I bought a copy of your book a few days ago at Borders. Been waiting for it for quite some time so I’m very happy i was able to get my hands on one quickly.
Thanks so much for writing it! You provide some very valuable and original content and we’re lucky to be able to learn from your success as well as your mistakes.
I bought my copy from Barnes & Nobels last night. It was a great book, and I’m excited to start reading it on my flight tomorrow.
I was a bit concerned where Barnes & Nobels placed your book though. I am always in the CSS / Web Design section where they have the other blogging books, however I couldn’t find your book with the others. I asked a store employee and we both found it in the consumer electronics section where they have howto books regarding iPhones, digital cameras, and other non related topics.
I hope it was just a localized misplacing of your book, because I were a regular customer just looking into getting started with blogging, I would of chosen another blogging book because the ProBlogger book was in another area.
I went and got a copy today. I had to drive about two hours to the nearest bookstore, but I’ve got mine. Now I can read it and start getting serious about blogging. Instead of the ramblings I get out on my personal blogs.
Oh man, I still haven’t gotten mine yet!
It is nice to see that your family is liking the book … did she have to buy it too ? :P
Congratulations for “your” book!
Congratulations! Hopefully I will have this experience sometime myself.
Last year I took a pretty remarkable trip to all 50 states in the US, in one year, staying with over 100 households of people I had never met before in my life. Eeeek. I’m hoping to turn it into a book.
Any chance of seeing some future blog posts on publishing?
Woo hoo! I’m excited to receive my copy, I just placed the order tonight.
You have achieved something that millions of people persuade themselves that they would not be able to.
It looks and sound like a great book and I am sure at some point soon I will get myself a copy.
Nice one Darren!
I was wondering if the book would be released in Australia?
I haven’t been able to find it in any websites nor did I find it at Borders when I visited Melbourne today. I tried looking in the Computer and business sections but the store was so huge and overwhelming.
If any problogger readers were able to assist me in my hunt, I’d be greatly appreciative!
I really want to treat myself to the book for my 21st birthday, but don’t believe Amazon could get it here by then.
Congratulations though to both you and Chris G for releasing this book. You have essentially created, and revolutionized, many facets of this industry. I hope that you continue to do so.
Congrats Darren
Just came across your blog on Google. Interesting post, you bring up a few good things to think about. Good luck with the blog.
