AdSense adds International Referral Buttons

Posted By Darren Rowse 26th of May 2006 Adsense 0 Comments

Adsense InternationalThe AdSense blog has announce that they have now added international referral buttons to their referrals area.

This allows non English blogs to start using referrals in their own languages (I can count 23 or so languages currently supported).

There are definitely not as many button options available for non English speaking publishers as there are for ‘English US’ ones though – but it’s a step in the right direction (which is easy for me to say as an English speaker of course).

I’d be interested to hear the thoughts of non English speaking bloggers on this – what would you like to see from AdSense and other ad programs? Send a message to AdSense – you never know, they might just be listening!

  1. One thing I’m confused about – can English speakers put up non-English buttons?

  2. They still look boring :(

  3. something “dumb” is that in their policy, they state that only one referral button can be used pet blog. But my blog is bilingual. Okay, I could have a switch for the language, but I prefer to have the two language readily available to all readers. So if I put a french button and an english one, I’m breaching the agreement. :P

  4. My site not fully in English. Some of the posts were written in Malay. But anyway currently I trying to post in English.

  5. lie, i’m making more than money from refferals rather than the regular adsense but they are not supporting Turkish language support in the new nice designed refferal ads.

the old ads had a typo problem also. why they don’t care about that?

  6. I have to agree with brem, the buttons still look ugly. But it is step in the right direction, I can’t see why parts of the world shouldn’t have the possibilities to place a referal-button on their page.
I’ve not looked this up, but does anyone know if international referal buttons earn the same amount as US-buttons? Because with the firefox-referal button this was not the case – I earned only $.50 where US-users earn $1.

  7. at least we see some improvements going on… …

  8. Great idea. Since AdSense already works great in Portuguese, surely AdWords will also work in the same direction!

  9. I’m surprised that advertisers would want to advertise on non-English speaking blogs.
