The Habits of Highly Effective Bloggers Group Writing Project is coming to an end. Today’s the cut off date so if want to contribute something you’ve only got til the end of the day (I’ll accept entries as long as they were sent on a Friday 26 May – wherever you are).
Today we have 19 more reader submissions (bringing us to a total of 48) and once again there has been a lot of thought put into them. What is exciting me most is the number of blogs that I’ve never seen before that are contributing posts – I’m discovering some quality bloggers through this project and hope others are also. Here’s todays submissions (all of which are being added to the central submissions page also):

Once again – if you’re written something but are not yet on the list you need to email me with your post’s URL – I’ve noticed that some people have not done this bit but can’t find everyone’s posts without a little help.
I wish some participants didn’t enumerate blogger qualities but rather habits.
A habit is recurrent task. A quality has no relation to time.
Just my two cents. :)
Brem, don’t you think that achieving some of those qualities requires a habit?
Habit: 1b: An established disposition of the mind or character.
I think the scope of the project was wide enough to encompass habits, traits and characteristics of a ProBlogger, and of ProBlogging.
I’m not saying that this has no value. All I’m saying is that some people went beyond the initial concept. In my opinion.
Since there is few chances I can change as a person, the qualities of a blogger are of interest, but not real life use to me.
Habits can change and can be acquired. Qualities are usually more firmly anchored, or are absent.
Again, my two cents… that makes 4 cents ;)
I think it is safe to say that if you change some of your habits you do change as a person. It is hard to think of a stingy person that habitualy gives away money for example. I would argue that qualities of a person are made up of habits and not much else.
Patrick,
I agree. What is an ego but a collection of conditioned responses programmed from past events? Like Pavlov’s dog (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Pavlov) conditioned reflexes can be taught.
Habits of success in any field can be conditioned. Its just a matter of knowing what to do and having the self discipline to follow through. We are a special kind of animal that can self program.
I received a wealth of information from this post. It amazes me how so many people can come together on the web.
History:
When I started blogging- 7 or so months ago- it was the greatest thing I’d ever seen. I couldn’t believe the power of networking that came from this Internet phenomenon. About two weeks into my blogging I found writingup.com. This opened my eyes to the fact that I could get PAID something… anything to write. Next came finding niches, traffic generating, optimization, monetization and a bunch of other factors like: RSS feeds, technorati and plenty of other things. Then I realized, you have to have a passion for blogging (or just be completely computer nerdy) in order to invest so much time just for the love of it. This is why athletes, singers, dancers and actors get paid so well. There are thousands of other people trying to make a buck off of something, you must work hard in abstaining knowledge about blogging, your niche and most of all… HAVE FUN!!
Thanks for starting this project. It was very informative.

[…] With apologies to Stephen Cohen. This entry from Pro-Blogger, got me started on this post. I do not have a lot of blogging experience. I have been seriously blogging only for the last 5 months (some sporadic blogging before that). Most of these are based on my observations of my favorite bloggers. […]
Readers and those who comment, bring so much dimention to any blog, i think it’s how we addapt and address these comments that make how blogging successful
It always amazes me when I see a blog that has no comments, and the host is the only one who ever posts. They must enjoy talking to themselves.
