Over at b5 some of our bloggers are beginning to experiment with video in their blogging. Sean at our boxing and wrestling blog is doing Predictions Posts using YouTube. He’s also brought in a friend on some and the results are pretty cool – two guys chilling out and arguing about a fight – very conversational and despite the lowish quality video quite engaging (even though I have no idea what they’re arguing about).
I think we’ll see more and more of this in the months ahead and it really excites where it all could end up. I know of one blogger who has been doing this type of thing on his blog for a few months now that is currently negotiating a deal with a cable TV station to produce similar content for them. I can’t mention his blog yet but I know that the videocasts that they are producing are as popular if not more popular than their audio versions (podcasts) and their blog posts.
Adding a bit of Video is quite cool. I run an AFL blog and I have been adding videos from the Hawks training and Family days when I get a chance. Although I have been using Videoegg and it works quite well.
Do you know if there is any canned type advertising coming down the pipe for Video (like is available for blogs and Podcasts)?
TIA
Molly
That’s my boy! :D
You’re right Darren, video is the ticket. I’ve only been playing in it for a few weeks and the response has been madness.
Did a little “ad” for Chartreuse (thanks Char), Seth wrote up the story (thanks Seth), and there it went…
And we’re talking poetry here. The possibilities for all you folks with an actually saleable idea or product should be limitless…
Go get it.
Then again, be sure to note the title of Seth’s post.
Video blogging will become more popular as more and more people get faster internet speed
I watched the video. I heard De La Hoya and Moryorga. I also her the words “body shot.” It was really interesting. I think video blogging will take off as the years go on.
It’s 4 am. What in the world am I doing.
Thanks for noticing. I know there is still much work to do but I am actually loving this. I appreciate the comments and visits. Hopefully this is the start of something big. Stay tuned.
P.S. Bob is my brother. He is the one cat that will watch boxing and wrestling with me and what you saw is what we do all the time behind the camera. Hopefully I can make him a regular.
Adding this feature to the blog is cool. It will become popular among the blog owners as their internet is faster. Will recommend this blog to other blog users. They will also like this new concept.
Darren, I think you owe it to your readers to remind them that while Sean may be doing great things with his wrestling blog and YouTube video, he also completely breaking Adsense TOS which state:
“In order to avoid associations with copyright claims, website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results.”

Steve – that’s an interesting one. Strangely though YouTube themselves display AdSense ads on some of their pages also.
I’m yet to hear of an example of a site getting in trouble with AdSense for showing a video or an mp3 – I think the key is that it should be on pages that ONLY has video or mp3….ie if it has other content I don’t see the problem.
If you took that line seriously you couldn’t put AdSense on any page that had an ‘image’…. I don’t think there would be many pages you could show it on.
