Steve writes a good post reflecting upon the transient nature of the web.
I’m constantly amazed by how fast things in our world are changing – particularly in the space I spend so much time ‘the web’.
Just three and a half years ago all I ever did online was chat on IRC chat rooms, search for illustrations for talks I was giving and look for part time jobs. Today I live on it and it’s the main source of my families income.
I just wonder what another three or so years will bring to the web and whether I’ll have the smarts to keep riding the next best thing!
Don t worry!
Remenber back 20 years ago, everybody believed that they will have a summer residence on the moon…
For the next 3 years? I think that we will have a big decrease in the blog creation… People will start to realize that this sector is more saturated than the music and litterature sector.
“People are like birds. They consistently migrate to new sites and services” ~ Steve Rubel.
“I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top” ~ Psalm 102: 6 – 7.
It is amazing how fast things change.
Darren remember you don’t have to on the cutting edge to be successful. The same way I can be as successful with an old PC as someone with the latest laptop with satellite broadband.
Change is the spice of life. Change is constant. So take it as it comes your way. I hope next three years will definately bring something interesting with it. Why not web!
