Thanks to everyone who voted for me in the Sixth Annual Weblog Awards. I was surprised to be nominated in the ‘best web development weblog’ as I focus upon such a small niche within that overall category and even more surprised to find that I’d taken out the category when announcements were made of winners today.
Thanks for your nominations and votes.
Now lets get on with some blogging.
PS: Did anyone else notice that Blogger.com was voted ‘Best Web Application for Weblogs’!?!?
That is truely bizarre!
Congrats Darren :)
cool
Kudos mate. Well deserved and hard-earned.
The snowball keeps getting bigger!
Congratulations Darren! I love your site and read it on a daily basis. Keep up the good work!
Good job, mate. Not sure you’re a web dev blog, but you’re definitely a blog dev blog. :)
Congrats Darren my friend!! But seriously without any hypocrisy you don’t really deserve it for the web-dev category, for the BlogBlog category!!
Good stuff, Darren. Now you can go on a spending spree with all those prizes…
Yup, Blogger.com beating out WordPress for best web app for weblogs – that’s BS!
Gotta love the best European blog’s title ;-)
Goes to show what passion for blogging and real respect for your readers will bring you. You’re a great example of a problogger, Darren. Congratulations! Virtual champagne today and real stuff if you ever get to Chicago!

Congratulations Darren!
Congrats Darren!
Well deserved and another confirmation of the your site’s importance to those who build up their own blog…
CONGRATULATIONS!
Strange. I don’t see any winners announced yet when I click through.
Well deserved.
[…] Darren Rowse of Problogger has scooped the Best Web Development Webog award at the 2006 Bloggies. […]
Congratulations Darren, keep up the great work. :o)
Hey Darren,

Joe

I just wanted to know , why did u feel it is bizarre?
I wanted to know ur point of view.
Well done Darren. Very well deserved.
David – I just think most serious bloggers would vote WordPress or some other advanced blogging software as the best web app. Blogger.com is fine if you want a basic blog but feature wise it’s very basic, they have server problems from time to time and are not a blog system that is really developing much over time. I guess it shows that those voting in the competition are a different kind of blogger perhaps than what most problogger readers are.
Blogger.com doesn’t even come close to WordPress in nearly every aspect – hence it is a very bizzarre winner, imo.
Maybe the “different kind of blogger” simply does not know how easy WordPress is to install and how much control you have over it.
I know I was hestitant to move to WordPress over from Blogger.com thinking of the learning curver ahead but I was glad I did.
congrats, darren. i’ve been following your blog everyday for a few months now.
re blogger.com. i know. i was mildly shocked myself!
Congratulations, Darren! You’re the only evidence I’ve seen that those weblog award people know what they’re doing.
Wow! Have been offline for a couple of days and look what happens :) Great work Darren, well deserved for the hard work and inspiration you’ve fostered in many (including me)
[…] Most of my votes went wrong.. Oh! Well! I guess the rest of the blogosphere is a lot different from me. But, WTH, Problogger won the best Web-Design Category? Double WTH, wrong blog in wrong category. LOL! […]
