31 Days to Build a Better Blog Bootcamp – Are You Interested?

Posted By Darren Rowse 29th of March 2010 ProBlogger Site News 0 Comments

Would you be interested in joining with a group of other bloggers for a month long intensive program of blog improvement? If so – please read on:

ProBlogger’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog workbook has been downloaded many thousands of times since it was launched last year. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive – however the one negative that I’ve heard quite a few times has generally been:

“It’s great…. but I’m only up to day 13….”

  1. When you say Bootcamp, what does this mean? Will you be pushing us like in the fitness bootcamp? LOL

    • thanks everyone for the feedback.

Thomas – actually one of the reasons I have used ‘bootcamp’ so far (not completely sure its the best name yet) is because Chris wants it to be something where participants are in fact pushed and where there are rewards/incentives for completing it all rather than just doing parts of it.

  2. Hi Darren

This is a FANTASTIC idea! A collaboration would add a whole new dimension to 31DBBB. I always work better when I can give and receive energy and ideas.

I’ve downloaded the guide, but haven’t tackled it as yet – I’m still in the very early days of my blog and my business and I’m planning to get into it a few months down the track. Collaborating, having incentives, and even having set dates and deadlines would definitely be great drivers for me.

I don’t want to mislead the level of interest, so haven’t registered as it wouldn’t be something I could commit to in this half of the year, but I’m confident you’ll get loads of responses and will find yourself running these at regular intervals. I can’t be the only collaborator around!

I look forward to signing up for bootcamp later in the year.

    Good luck!

    Cheers
    Susan

  3. Time is something that I can’t buy now so I like the idea but don’t know if I’d have that much time to join. As for 31 DBBB, I admit that I’m not doing it daily, but so far I have gone through the day 11 task after I got the book for almost 2 months now and I thought it has changed the way I blog immensely. Thank you Darren for this nice book.

  4. I just signed up! I ran the challenge one one of my older blogs when you did the 31DBBB last year. I’ve since purchased the ebook with the intention of going through the process on my newer blog once it was a few months old. This boot camp will fall in that time frame.

  5. I’d join the boot camp if Grizz was a part of it :)

Why can’t us bloggers just form small communities to give feedback on each others blogs on our own? Someone should make a site where people form communities and give tips on each others blogs.

  6. Saw the challenge last year and tried to get involved then but as you say kind of got distracted. Feel like I will make the time for this one. I saw that a lot of people enjoyed it.

  7. Great idea. I purchased the ebook and I believe this program would be an excellent addition. Great job!

  8. Nice idea. I wish I had more time. I have your ebook though. But going through it at tortoise speed.

  9. I know the “B” in bootcamp goes well with the 31dbbb, but wouldn’t “online workshop” or even “the 31dbbb challenge” be better? Bootcamp does sound like going to, well, camp, and I like to build my blog, make it better and help my readers, not camping :) In the end, it doesn’t matter and bootcamp will work just as fine, but as the first impression, it’s a bit confusing…

With that said, the idea of taking a group of bloggers through the process is great. The book is awesome on its own, but sometimes walking through the process hand-in-hand is needed.

  10. Love the idea! I need a push to finish it since each lessons seems to spark other ideas and I get distracted. VIP version that comes with Problogger PJs? Just a thought :)

  11. Darren such a nice idea.
I have signed up just now and hope i would be helpful for me.

  12. What an awesome idea! I regularly get emails asking about the book and I always tell people it is so worth it! I’m not super-disciplined, so having accountability and extra attention would be great for someone like me!

In fact, I like this book so much I am giving away a copy on my blog on Thursday of next week… could anyone here tell me how I can go about giving a download away? I want to purchase it and give the link to download to the winner, but I don’t want it to appear “stolen.”

    Any tips?

  13. I just purchased the e-book a couple of weeks ago, and you are right, I am not as far as I would have been able to get with it. Yet, my blog is pretty new and I feel that taking a break in-between the tasks isn’t that bad. However, I think that I might benefit from a more intense bootcamp once I’ve been able to add some content. I think that many daily tasks in the 31DBBB are really for established blogs that already have some content and a userbase to turn to.

  14. Yes, absolutely! I actually just bought the book and have only had a chance to listen to the bonus podcasts but I already know that I’ll need more information, knowing just how quickly things change and how difficult it can be to stay motivated if a program is entirely self-paced. I’ve had my blog for 3 (!) years now, and yet I know that I’ve yet to fully tap into its potential.

    Sign me up, please!

    Salut,
    Marjorie

  15. Great Idea!

I was contemplating getting the e-book but wondering how I would use it.

This could be the thing that stops it becoming 310 days to improve your blog!

  16. Darren,

what an excellent way of preselling a product and also getting feedback as in ‘what my visitors want to buy’. This sample blog post alone could be worth the entire cost of the bootcamp!

The eBook is good, but like others have said – I easily get distracted. Mainly because an eBook doesn’t grab me, like audio and video do. It’s not interactive enough.

And of course there’s the information that you already know. The moment we read something we already know, we skip it or put down the product alltogether!

  17. Hey Darren,

I do not know if I would be interested in the ‘bootcamp’, but I would be interested in the workbook. Unfortunately I have not gotten around to getting it, as I am usually tight on time. I was heartbroken to find that it is not available on the Kindle Store, as if it were I would buy it right then and there. I did noticed that you had your six figure blogging book up there, though. I did not want to buy it, however, as I felt that it would be a waste when you just recently came up with an updated version.

  18. Most definitely interested in this, going to be starting a third blog shortly and something like this would be great for pushing myself in the right direction.

  19. I really like the idea Darren. I always like to get to know other bloggers and the 31DBBB program is great. Sign me up!!

  20. Darren, that’s an awesome idea :) And yes I’m like 99% of the people out there that get’s a million things started and never finished a single one of them :(

  21. I LOVE this idea. I have just been researching ways to improve my blogging and this would be fantastic.

I just discovered your blog and it is such a wealth of info. THANKYOU!!!

  22. I got the 31DBBB, but haven’t started it yet.

A bootcamp is what I need to jumpstart me to act on it.

    Interested and have signed up.

    Faith

  23. I’ve put my name down with bells on! I missed the others when they were running. I can’t wait!

  24. Is this available as a product / one download?

    Tom

  25. Is there a starting time? It would be great if you could post a schedule.
    However, a great e-book. :)

  26. Hi, Yes i do believe, becoming a better blogger helps you become a better writer. What I’ve been frustrated about, though, is that there aren’t a lot of books on writing blog posts that approach it from a writer’s perspective.

  27. Has huge merit, Darren, as per most of the stuff you push out on this site.

“would of course be some additional cost…”

This is the clincher. Do you have a ballpark costing in mind? I tend to get all overexcited about things like this – things that I think have huge potential for the blog community including myself.

But it all boils down to wonga.

  28. i think it is great program. I want it, and i hope can join it. But i have another works to do. where is the schedule? lol

  29. Looks like you heard nothing about the other info around this question.

  30. I think the idea of a local study group would work too. Get a group of bloggers from the same city to meet on a weekly basis and exchange progress and other stories. Perhaps having each member fo the group “focus” on one day at a time with a collaborative report back/mini-lecture for the group.

    Dave

  31. I think it’s a fantastic idea. I bought the 31DBBB and worked most of the way through it, but got stuck when I hit a glitch on my blog. I am still stuck, but working my way out even as we virtually speak.

  32. signed up straight away. cannot wait

  33. I think this is a great idea! I am totally up for it. It’s always great working with others and have someone cheer you on toward your goals.

    Ian

  34. Looking forward to this!

  35. I was actually planning to do something really similar to this with some of my readers who have purchased it. I love it and don’t find it hard to persist through, but sometimes, it’s easier to go through as a group, like a book club. I might be interested in joining this; I’ll sign up and see what you guys plan to do!

    Cheers,
    Tia

  36. Not to sound all Martha Stewart but “it’s a good thing.”

I’m spending so much time on the blog I handle for work I don’t spend as much time on my own!

Might be good to have something to FORCE me to set aside time for myself — and get ‘er done! ;)

  37. Looking forward to it.

  38. It sounds like a good bootcamp. I am interested of it. However, i do not know whether the fee is affordable or not. Wish that i really can join it. Thanks!

  39. I’m in if it’s free :)

  40. I have become an avid admirer of this website for some time but not really offered anything at all back, I am hoping to alter that in the future with more discussion. Thanks for another great addition on the site.

  41. Just like normal you’ve given some good info. Been a lurker on the webpage for some time and wanted to give thanks to you for taking the time to publish it.

  42. I am interested in bootcamp it I can afforded, I already sign-in .
If I cannot afford I’ll but the ebook and see how much I ca do myself…

I really like your blog and your videos.
    regards
    Michaela

  43. I’d be interested. Thanks!

  44. Hi, Taking a quick read through these five steps and following the links to articles that share more in-depth information can go a long way toward helping you build a good understanding of what organic optimization is all about.

  45. Another great posting with logical points, I’ve been a lurker right here for some time but desire to be far more involved from now on.

  46. Free? I’ll joint in!

  47. Great idea. I like the fact that you’ll be coaching people on to keep at it through the entire 31 days.
    Looking forward to the program!

    Cheers

  48. Hi guys,

This sounds very challenging. I don’t think that I would be willing to commit myself to a difficult task. So I wish those of you who are taking the challenge Good Luck!!!

    Kind Regards,

    Sam

He knows what he is talking about, as been there – done that, and conveys his message exceedingly well.

  50. Hi,

I found your article really interesting and informative.

I have just started writing a blog about spending and saving money.
It is still in its early stage of development, but hopefully it will begin to grow.

    Have a read!

Looking to update it at least 3 times a week

    Thanks
