Description
About us
We seek pitches from talented writers on cross-cultural topics for the second issue of Perfect Strangers magazine. We value beautiful and thoughtful writing, and seek to champion originality and diversity. We're interested in perspectives and topics that go beyond the superficial and generic, and that explore some aspect of the cross-cultural in an insightful or unexpected way.
'Cross-cultural' may be broadly interpreted according to the interests and experiences of the writer. Examples of content from the first issue can be found at our website here.
Theme
The theme of the second issue is 'Accents' (also broadly interpreted). However, proposals do not necessarily have to adhere to this theme.
What to do
If interested, please *email* your proposed topic(s) along with at least two writing samples, either attached or accessible online, to [email protected].
Your proposal should ideally outline the subject and its cross-cultural angle, and include any other details that might be helpful for us to know (e.g. contacts/sources you have established or are likely to be able to reach; other logistical details, etc.)
The format and length of the proposal are flexible; however, the more detail you can provide, the better we will be able to evaluate whether it is a good fit.
If accepted, compensation starts at US$300 and will vary according to the scope and length of the piece.
