Gardening chores is looking for subject matter experts able to write across a broad spectrum of gardening (ie. landscaping, plant culture, vegetables, herbs, trees, fruit, etc).
If you have a passion for gardening and amazing writing skills, this might be the place for you.
We’re looking for 5 to 8 experienced garden writers who can craft excellent growing guides and other written material on a regular basis.

EXPERIENCE
We are seeking horticulturists, arborist, master gardeners, serious home gardeners, homesteaders, and others who have academic or hands-on experience.
Because our readers need up-to-date information and there is so much to learn about plants, you need to be specialize in one or a few areas.
- Growing your own food. Vegetables, herbs, fruits.
- Write about flowers, or more specifically about perennials or annuals.
- Others concentrate on more technical topics like soil preservation, pesticides, plant problems.
- Writing pieces about choosing, planting, pruning of different types of shrubs and trees.
We want writers who appreciate style that stands the test of time, blended with an interest and awareness of evolving fits and aesthetics.
You need to embed personality into your work without letting it get in the way of the information, readability, or SEO best-practices.
A good piece for our site is one that is interesting, creative, informative, and easy to read. The backbone of SEO needs to be considered, with the appropriate format and structure in place.
We like writers who know their stuff AND jump off the page with personality and engagement. No stodgy, academic writing here. We’re people writing for people.
Our Ideal Candidates
Native speaker or high level of fluency in written American English. This is non-negotiable. You must also be intimately familiar with writing for a US audience and not be afraid.
Must have at least 2+ years of writing experience.
We’re looking for someone who can initially write 4-6 articles a month. Most articles will range between 2000 - 4000 words. Additional work is possible if proven reliable and can provide top-notch work.
We are looking for a long-term fit with a professional-minded writer who wants a position on our team for years.
The ability to take decent photos of plants that you may be personally growing, or encounter is a plus.
Know how to write and structure a top-notch article our readers will love (introduction, formatting, bullet lists, subheadings, etc.) NOT fill up articles with unnecessary fluff.
This is currently a highly flexible role whereby you can start with one article per month or many articles per week depending on your availability.
