Description
Freelance Content Strategist & Writer for Shopify App (Part-time, Remote)
We build Smart Collections Pro, a Shopify app that unlocks what Shopify's native collection system can't do: advanced AND/OR rules, nested sub-collections, bulk tools, dynamic product assignment. Merchants with large or complex catalogs love it. Most of them found us because they hit a wall with Shopify's defaults and went looking for a way out.
That's exactly the gap we want to own with content.
What you'll do
Find the questions frustrated Shopify merchants are actually asking on Reddit, Shopify Community forums, Google, wherever they go when something doesn't work, and write the definitive answer. Not promotional content. Genuinely useful articles that solve real problems, where our app is the natural next step for merchants who want more than a workaround.
Concretely, you'll be responsible for finding topics worth writing about, prioritizing by intent (we want merchants hitting Shopify's limits, not beginners), learning the app well enough to write about it accurately, producing 2 to 4 articles per month, and making sure they're structured to get found on Google and cited by AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity.
What we're looking for
Someone who understands why the article exists, not just how to write one. You should be able to look at a Shopify Community thread where someone asks "can I filter collections by multiple tags at once?" and immediately see the opportunity: high-intent question, Shopify's answer is no, our app is the answer, here's the article to write.
You don't need to be a developer. But you need to be comfortable learning a technical product, understanding its edge cases, and explaining them clearly to non-technical merchants.
AI-assisted writing is fine. We care about quality and accuracy, not how you get there. But the output needs to read like someone who actually understands Shopify wrote it, not like it came out of a template.
Compensation and duration
Starting rate is $80 per article, with increases over time based on quality and results. We're planning for roughly 6 months initially and will reassess together after that.
To apply
Find 1 sample question online (for example a merchant posts on Reddit) then answer this in 3 to 4 sentences: What article would you write in response (just the headline), and why?
That answer tells us more than your CV.
