OperatorGrade is an independent software review publication built for small business owner-operators. We cover complex B2B software across 11 core verticals, including Property Management, HVAC, Pest Control, Landscaping, and Legal.
Our editorial mission is different: we don’t write feature lists or rewrite vendor marketing copy. Every review is grounded in primary source interviews with practitioners who actually use the software. We write the high-stakes operational reviews that buyers use to make $10,000–$50,000 software decisions.
The Role
We are looking for one elite long-form B2B writer for an ongoing freelance partnership. You do not need to be a practitioner in these fields—we provide the paid practitioner interview sources for every article.
Your job is to conduct 2–3 recorded interviews per piece, synthesize the "operational truth" (the good, the bad, and the buggy), and write authoritative reviews that respect the reader’s intelligence.
What You’ll Write
Deep-Dive Reviews: Major B2B platforms (2,500–4,000 words).
Head-to-Head Matchups: Comparative analysis of the most-searched software pairings.
Total Cost of Ownership Guides: Including the implementation and "hidden" costs vendors don’t advertise.
"Best For" Guides: Segmented by company size, service mix, and operational complexity.
Cadence: Starting at 2–3 articles per month, scaling up as we expand verticals.
Compensation
$225 per published article.
$50 performance bonus per article that drives verified affiliate activity in its first 90 days.
Interviews are handled by us: We source, schedule, and pay the practitioners separately.
Paid Trial: Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a paid trial article ($150).
Requirements
3+ years of long-form B2B writing experience (SaaS/Tech preferred).
Interview Skills: You must be comfortable on the phone/Zoom extracting specific operational details from busy professionals.
Portfolio: You must provide links to published software reviews, product analysis, or technical deep-dives.
No "SEO Fluff": We have zero interest in writers who prioritize keyword density over original insight. We write for humans first.
