Do you play board games and love writing? We want to hear from you!
We’re an independent tabletop games website that creates helpful gaming articles for board gamers, roleplayers and TCG players.
We’re increasing our board game content on hobbyist board games like Catan, 7 Wonders, Terraforming Mars etc.
Playing any type of board game makes you a board gamer, but if the only board games you’ve played are mass-market games like Monopoly and Clue, then Sorry! you don’t have the experience required for this position.
We’re looking for board game writers who know their dungeon crawlers from their worker placements and can write 1-2 articles per week on board games on a regular basis for the long term.
Articles range from 1,500-4,000 words, with the majority being around 2,300 words. We have templates and outlines for you to follow for each article. Some SEO knowledge is helpful, but it’s more important that all articles show your gaming experience, are useful for readers, and need very little editing.
You don’t need tons of writing experience to apply. New writers who are willing to learn are welcome to apply as well.
This is a ghostwriting position which means your name won’t be listed as the author on the articles.

You’re the ideal person for this position if you:
- Have experience playing a wide range of hobbyist board games
- Have a good understanding of game mechanics
- Enjoy analyzing games and thinking about winning strategies
- Can explain complicated strategies, mechanics, and rules in a simple and engaging way
- Can write fluently in English
- Are familiar with writing in WordPress or are happy to learn how to do it
- Have a computer with internet access
- Communicate regularly regarding your work capacity and hit agreed deadlines
Bonus points for:
- Experience playing TTRPGs and TCGs
Writing Rates
If you are offered a writing position, we can discuss regular rates. Payment is per word in United States Dollars.
This is a freelancer position. There is a freelance writing agreement to sign if you’re offered a role.
Delivering Articles
You’ll write and format the articles directly into our WordPress powered website.
Start Date
We’ll start reviewing applications and contacting potential writers on Monday 14th March.
You can get started writing articles right away after accepting the position.
Sample Article
As part of our application process, we reach out to candidates with an offer to complete a short, paid sample article at 3 cents USD per word. If you are offered a writing position, we can discuss and agree your regular writing rate.
