I am passionate about assembling fact-based stories—whether that means highlighting the legacy of an antique or writing articles about an aspect of history, science, or art. My delight is in finding those strange or lesser-known details that make the whole thing more interesting and real.
I have eight years of experience in content writing, from website content to product descriptions, with all the SEO keywords, interlinks, and so on that are required. I’ve worked as a research assistant for a decade, honing swift and accurate research skills and an impeccable sensibility about client interactions. My policy is to always use valuable sources. I've worked with websites from The Farmer's Almanac to LATV, along with small business owners, authors, and teachers.
A bit about me:
- I have always been an avid bookworm – as a kid, I regularly consumed entire novels over a single weekend.
- I am a firm proponent of the Oxford comma, the careful use of adjectives, and the criticalness of punctuation in communication.
- I can and will yatter impressively about the origination of Gothic architecture. (It wasn’t originally creepy!)
- I am comfortable using both the Microsoft Office and Google Docs Editor suites, although if you have something else in mind--I'm quick on my feet, I'll catch on.
- I tend towards academic writing and longer sentences. That isn't always good or approachable. Thanks to my years of experience in online content writing, I can take the 20-words-or-less approach as needed. (I don't often use hyphens to cheat either...)
- It is a personal point of pride to ensure you are entirely satisfied with the results of our contract -- I know that sounds cliche, but it is nonetheless true and nearly impossible to find a unique way to say!
If you have a story rooted in facts to tell, reach out! Let's talk, I look forward to it.
Education
I spent the last two years of high school at college through the Running Start program, graduating with honors (Dean's and President's Lists) with my high school diploma and an Associate of Arts.
Experience
The usual: scheduling appointments, making orders, topical research, interacting with service providers, and so forth... and the unusual, like basic carpentry and wiring some speakers.
I am passionate about filling out stories—whether that means tracking down antiques' origins, researching a historical detail for a teacher or an author, or writing an article about an aspect of history/science/etc. I have spent nearly six years working with content, from website content to product descriptions to research and editing projects. SEO keywords and linking, as well as grammar and punctuation best practices, are all regularly honed skills in my repertoire.
A solopreneur visual art store, it was a side project--an outlet for my graphic design side--that I closed to better focus on building a freelancing base.
Everything a micro-business needs: marketing, sales, finances, warehouse, design, the list goes on and on.
