Role: Managing Editor of Trending News
InspireMore is looking for a Managing Editor who can oversee the daily deliverables and implement strategies for real-time news publishing and distribution on-site and social media platforms. This role will also be responsible for having their team build quality trending articles that expand on topical news. A qualified candidate understands real-time news cycles and trends to the degree of being able to source unique angles that engage our audience and turn them around in a timely manner for social and search distribution. This position leads the charge with all topical news for InspireMore and will need to drive a team of writers forward to map out editorial and traffic goals established by management.
Experience:
5-7+ years in digital media and publishing
Team and people management experience required
Thorough understanding of using Facebook as an engagement and traffic driver for content
SEO knowledge as it relates to crafting content for Google Top Stories + Google Discover placements regularly
Ability to set, track, and hold team accountable with content production goals
Yoast metadata editing experience required
Has top-notch time and assignment management skills
Role Description:
Assign and edit a mix of good news topical articles -- producing well-researched content for real-time publication on-site
Build topical news editorial on WordPress VIP
Proofread and edit posts before publication.
Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images, and tone).
Ensure all content adheres to style guides and brand standards
Work closely with a writing team, including content writers and editors
Working closely with management to understand traffic trends and where/how best to scale content
Follow an editorial calendar and staff schedule, collaborating with other members of the content production team to ensure timely delivery of materials
Ensure clear, concise copy paired with timely turnaround times by writers
Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual traffic goals
