Mwaphira Pitilizani has led and contributed to multiple innovative engineering projects during his time at Taylor’s University in collaboration with industry partners. His undergraduate research focused on a comparative analysis of 132 kV substations in terms of design and control interlocking logic, in partnership with PSI Incontrol Sbn Bhd. As a group leader, he also spearheaded a multidisciplinary project on the “Cross Terrain EV Quad Standing Bike” in collaboration with Futureverse, emphasizing sustainable mobility solutions. His other notable projects include designing smart societal systems using Arduino in Tinkercad for applications such as gas detection and waste monitoring; developing a hydrogen-electricity generator prototype that produced 7.326 kWh of power from chemical reactions; and designing an autonomous parking robot car with CAD and sensor integration to navigate complex terrains. These projects reflect his strong foundation in power systems, embedded systems, and sustainable innovation.

• Founded and formally established ThriveBridge Malawi, transitioning from the LinkedIn Fest Malawi movement into a fully-fledged youth empowerment NGO.

• Recruited and onboarded a team of 70+ dedicated volunteers across functional departments, including programs, HR,
Social Media, marketing, IT, and outreach, etc.

• Led resource mobilization, fundraising, and partnership development initiatives to support strategic goals and nationwide impact.

• Built the organization’s LinkedIn presence and social platforms to enhance visibility, promote programs, and share youth success stories.

• Championed national transformation by designing programs focused on career growth, leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship, aligning with Malawi Vision 2063.

• Fostered collaborations between youth, professionals, and institutions to build empowered, innovative, and self-reliant communities across Malawi.

• Developed a visual tool using Visual Basic for Application (VBA) in Excel for PSI Incontrol Sbh Bhd to showcase substation design and operations to clients.

• Wired and developed 11 kV – 500 kV control and protection panels according to single line diagrams. Conducted research on differential protection to enhance the substation protection using current and voltage transformers (1A, n= 1:1).
