Description
We publish several high-profile websites, examples are about baseball history, animals/pets, and travel topics.
A few of our sites are syndicated on MSN.com, so this is a fantastic opportunity to potentially get your name in front of a large audience.
We are looking to hire a writer who is a fan of baseball but is also experienced enough to write/edit on a variety of other topics.
Context Examples
We'll provide you with the topics, and a lot of what we're doing right now is punchy content that's designed to get traffic via social media shares.
Expect to have a lot of "embed and react" style articles where we embed someone else's video and then provide original commentary on it. Here's an example of what I mean: https://www.pupvine.com/abandoned-and-starving-dog-comes-up-to-a-truck-driver-and-asks-to-be-rescued/
We do use a couple of AI tools internally to help expedite the process and create outlines and first drafts that you'll then polish, edit, and publish.
Please make sure you're comfortable with that, as the expectation is that with AI assistance, a ~600 word article like the one above would be ready to go in an hour or less on average.
PROJECT SCOPE
This is an ongoing project since we're regularly publishing new content on our sites
It certainly has the potential to be a long term project for the right candidate.
PROJECT PARTICULARS
You must enjoy writing and be very good at it. Anyone can write a boring review. We require the write-ups to be engaging, detailed, helpful, personable, and humorous with a touch of snarkiness. All in all, they must entertain as much as they inform.
We are looking for someone who can work 15 - 20 hours per week, producing multiple articles per work day on either travel, baseball, animals/pets or a combination of all of them.
The schedule of when you work is totally flexible.
Word counts will vary but this won't be long form content for the most part. Typical articles will look something like this:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tripideas/worst-american-tourist-traps-you-should-avoid/
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/the-fatal-fastball-of-1920-unraveling-the-tragic-moment-baseball-changed-forever/ar-BB1jaDjq?disableErrorRedirect=true&infiniteContentCount=0&ocid=socialshare
You must have (or be willing to open) a Paypal account for invoicing.
Familiarity with WordPress is an asset, as the ideal candidate will be formatting and publishing their content to our site.
LOCATION:
You can work wherever you want. However, you must be a native English speaker and be able to write for a primarily US audience.
DEADLINE:
Ideally, you can complete an "embed and react" style article in about an hour with the training we'll provide on the AI systems we use to create a really solid first draft. The first batch may take a bit longer as you get up to speed.
(We are also open to people who can handle even more articles per week)
REMUNERATION:
$15 per hour + Viral Content Bonuses
You will be paid weekly by sending us an invoice via Paypal for all of the work you completed that week.
This is a freelancer position.
We like to reward our writers when posts go viral and send a windfall of traffic to our site. Frankly, at this point we don't have a defined scale for this - but if you create something that suddenly drives a ton of traffic, we'll send you a viral content bonus with your weekly payment.
DELIVERY OF ARTICLES
The ideal candidate will be comfortable publishing your work in WordPress. We can provide training as needed, but given the high volume of content you'll be asked to self-edit using Grammarly.
We'll also show you how to source and format images to be used in the articles. You'll effectively be self-publishing your work
START DATE
The position starts immediately.
HOW TO APPLY
You can apply via the attached form.
PLEASE NOTE that we read the application to assess writing capability. If it's boilerplate and boring, we'll probably not reply.
Write the application so that it's interesting - show us your writing chops. We'd also love to hear about your interest/experience with baseball and baseball history, as this is definitely one topic where we need someone who "gets it" and can talk like a baseball fan.
Kindly provide 3 writing samples, preferably web writing. Simply include URLs to the samples.
Please confirm your start date as well. Also, let us know if you are available to write for us in the long term.
