Our business is located in the USA. Thus we are seeking writers that live in the USA (for now). IF you live in Canada please still apply because we do intend to expand into Canada soon.
The ideal applicant will have either a known post secondary education OR has been published consistently on known websites.
Our content will be English. Thus, English must be your first language.
1) THE PROJECT:
We are launching a website that focuses on hiking, backpacking, and camping.
Having built/launched many large audiences/sites from scratch in the past, our expectations are to build out another market leader.
2) THE WORK:
This is a long-term and on-going opportunity.
The chosen candidates will help us create informative and practical web content.
Assignments will include information guides and product/gear reviews.
Individual articles will be 1500 to 4000 words each in length.
We are looking for writers who can consistently produce 3,000 to 10,000 words (2 to 6 pieces) each per month.
There is great potential for the work load to increase if you can clearly demonstrate excellent performance.
3) WHO WE ARE SEARCHING FOR:
The ideal applicant will have in-depth knowledge about hiking, backpacking, or camping due to extensive first hand experience; plus excellent writing skills.
However, it may not be possible to find the above combination.
Those that can demonstrate excellent/thorough research skills (to analyze and review products/gear) plus an ability to write with a “friendly expert” voice could be just as effective and valued for the job.
The ability to produce top quality long form content that is unique, accurate, information rich, and provides true value in a consistent and engaging/friendly personality is a must.
Our content will be informative, have purpose, answer questions, and teach readers useful information that they seek (via search engines). Information will be presented in a friendly, innovative, and entertaining way.
We will provide detailed instructions in briefs for each article while definitely offering room for your own input and creativity.
Candidates that have an understanding of SEO may have an advantage. If you have written content that has ranked well (on page 1) in Google please show and tell us about it. Keep in mind we will not expect SEO to stifle your creativity.
Our intention and preference is to hire top notch talent. We will offer fair compensation for that.
4) CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- We will pay you a rate per written word (as counted by WordPress).
- Chosen candidates will meet agreed upon deadlines and supply a minimum number of articles per week/month.
- Chosen candidates are willing to make changes based on feedback (although this will be minimized by our detailed briefs/instructions and your initial quality effort).
- Content must be 100% unique (has never been published on any other websites).
- We own exclusive rights to the content and it must not be used, shared or published in any other way.
- Ideally we seek ghost written work, but are open to publishing under your name if it makes sense.
- If content is published in your name, we won’t make any changes (without your permission).
