Isn’t slowly travel on two wheels the best way to see the world? We certainly believe so at our growing cycling blog site. As a blog writer for us, you’d be writing cycling guides, gear reviews and in-depth product comparisons help our readers become better cyclists.

You will join a small team and work under the guidance of a content manager to produce top-notch content. We have the topics and requirements scope out already, and you only need to fill in the content gap.

An assistant will format your writing into a neat WordPress post so you no need to worry about managing the CMS either. You will have flexible working hours, clearly structured work scope, and freedom to work from wherever you like, as long as you adhere to the editorial calender. If you are ambitious to grow your writing career, you will also have the oportunity to learn advanced SEO strategies from some of the most successful people in the industry.

We pay $0.06 per word, and each of these posts will be around 2000 words. The voice/tone we are looking for is lighthearted but informative. We want to break down very technical terms for our readers without sounding like a 100-page user manual and sprinkle a healthy dose of humor here and there. We want to avoid using jargons, long adverbs, and abstruse references.

To start with, you need to be able to write at least 5,000 words a week on a rate per word contract basis. Once hired, you will be writing about 10,000 words a week (that’s about 5 posts). We need you to own the subject matter and become an expert at the niche you write about.

If you prove to be a good fit for the team, there is the potential to be hired on a full-time basis with higher volume and more consistent assignments.

  • Entry-level road bikes
  • Best touring bikes under 500
  • Bike size chart
  • Diamondback bike review
  • Mid-range italian cycling shoes
  • Guide to clipless pedals

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge about cycling and bicycles/gears
  • Available to write about 10,000 words per week
  • Native English speaker
  • University degree preferably in English, marketing, communications or journalism
  • Excellent writer with impeccable grammar
  • Possess a sense of humor in your writing
  • Proven track record in writing for the web
  • Proficient in Google Doc
  • Ability to use Google Sheet and Hangout
  • Hungry to learn best practices in on-page content optimization
  • Curiosity to learn about website information architecture

Your responsibilities as the blog writer:

  • Conduct your own internet research on topics assigned to you
  • Follow specific guidelines given to you pertaining keywords, formatting, etc
  • Write informed, original and engaging content
  • Follow best practices for web content
  • Optimize your content with feedback from the content manager
  • Manage your time to meet editorial deadlines
  • Have weekly check-in calls with the content manager

Other job requirements:

  • Has consistent access to fast internet
  • Available for a 30-min check-in call every week
  • Preferably within 6 hours of the UK timezone
